Deciphering the molecular basis of mycobacteria and lipoglycan recognition by the C-type lectin Dectin-2. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2018
Dectin-2 is a C-type lectin involved in the recognition of several pathogens such as Aspergillus fumigatus, Candida albicans, Schistosoma mansonii, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis that triggers Th17 immune responses.

Dectin-1 and DC-SIGN polymorphisms associated with invasive pulmonary Aspergillosis infection.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The recognition of pathogen-derived structures by C-type lectins and the chemotactic activity mediated by the CCL2/CCR2 axis are critical steps in determining the host immune response to fungi.

Mycobiota and C-Type Lectin Receptors in Cancers: Know thy Neighbors

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Numerous studies have demonstrated the importance of gut bacteria in the development of malignancy, while relatively little research has been done on gut mycobiota.

The Role of AIRE in the Immunity Against Candida Albicans in a Model of Human Macrophages

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Autoimmune-polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy (APECED) is a primary immunodeficiency caused by mutations in the autoimmune regulator gene (AIRE). Patients with AIRE mutations are susceptible to Candida albicans infection and present with

Carbohydrates from Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms interact with immune C-type lectins and interfere with their receptor function

open access: yesnpj Biofilms and Microbiomes, 2021
Bacterial biofilms represent a challenge to the healthcare system because of their resilience against antimicrobials and immune attack. Biofilms consist of bacterial aggregates embedded in an extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) composed of ...

Dectin-1/2-induced autocrine PGE2 signaling licenses dendritic cells to prime Th2 responses.

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2018
The molecular mechanisms through which dendritic cells (DCs) prime T helper 2 (Th2) responses, including those elicited by parasitic helminths, remain incompletely understood. Here, we report that soluble egg antigen (SEA) from Schistosoma mansoni, which

Co-regulation of Dectin-1 and TLR2 in inflammatory response of human corneal epithelial cells induced by Aspergillus fumigates [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2016
AIM: To investigate the co-regulation of dendritic cell-associated C-type lectin-1 (Dectin-1), Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), and relative chemotactic factors in the Telomease-immortalized human corneal epithelial (THCE) cells after exposure to Aspergillus

Identification of Mannose‐Capped‐Arabinomannan 101‐mer as a Potential Influenza Virus Vaccine Adjuvant

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Well‐defined and synthetic mannose‐capped arabinomannan 101‐mer from Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall was identified as a potent influenza vaccine adjuvant, boosting the antibody response, realizing full protection and showing excellent safety. ABSTRACT Many natural bacterial components as adjuvants can activate the host immune system, but the ...

The C-type Lectin Receptor Dectin-2 is a receptor for Aspergillus fumigatus galactomannan

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2022
Aspergillus fumigatus is a ubiquitous environmental mold that causes significant mortality particularly amongst immunocompromised patients. The detection of the Aspergillus-derived carbohydrate galactomannan in patient sera and bronchoalveolar lavage ...

The Dectin-2 family of C-type lectins in immunity and homeostasis

open access: yesCytokine, 2009
C-type lectins are a diverse family of proteins which recognize a wide range of ligands. This review focuses on the Dectin-2 family of C-type lectins that includes Dectin-2, BDCA-2, DCIR, DCAR, Clecsf8 and Mincle whose genes are clustered in the telomeric region of the NK-gene cluster on mouse chromosome 6 and human chromosome 12.
