Protective Effects of Vitamin C Concomitant Treatment on Deferasirox-induced Renal Toxicity in Rats

open access: yesMajallah-i dānishgāh-i ̒ulūm-i pizishkī-i Arāk, 2020
Background and Aim: Deferasirox (Exjade) is an iron-chelating drug used in patients with beta-thalassemia major. Oxidative stress is among f the major causes of nephrotoxicity and its progression.

4-[3,5-Bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl]benzoic acid dimethylformamide monosolvate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2012
In the molecule of deferasirox dimethylformamide solvate, C21H15N3O4·C3H7NO, the central 1,2,4-triazole ring is tilted with respect to the benzoic acid and one of the 2-hydroxyphenyl units but coplanar with the other 2-hydroxyphenyl group, as ...

Deletion of chromosome 20 in bone marrow of patients with Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, loss of the EIF6 gene and benign prognosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome (SDS; On-line Mendelian Inheritance in Man database number 260400) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the SBDS gene in at least 90% of cases (Boocock et al, 2003).

Deferasirox is a powerful NF-κB inhibitor in myelodysplastic cells and in leukemia cell lines acting independently from cell iron deprivation by chelation and reactive oxygen species scavenging

open access: yesHaematologica, 2010
Background Usefulness of iron chelation therapy in myelodysplastic patients is still under debate but many authors suggest its possible role in improving survival of low-risk myelodysplastic patients.

Iron overload and morbidities in Chinese with non‐transfusion‐dependent thalassaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
A cross‐sectional study in Hong Kong included 109 adult and paediatric Chinese patients with non‐transfusion dependent thalassaemia (NTDT). The study found significant chronic health issues in 52% of patients. More severe disease was observed in patients with non‐deletional α‐thalassaemia intermedia, β‐thalassaemia intermedia, advanced age and history ...

Comparison of deferasirox and deferoxamine effects on iron overload and immunological changes in patients with blood transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia

open access: yesAsian Journal of Transfusion Science, 2017
Introduction: Beta-thalassemias are a cluster of inherited (autosomal recessive) hematological disorders prevalent in the Mediterranean area due to defects in synthesis of β chains of hemoglobin.

Overcoming BET‐inhibitor JQ1 resistance in aggressive non‐small cell lung cancer by inducing ferroptosis via inhibition of the BRD2–FTH1 axis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Recent studies emphasize alternative functions of FTH1 relevant for nuclear processes, such as transcriptional regulation. This study shows a novel FTH1/BRD2 association in non‐small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). This nuclear interaction affects BRD2 protein stability in aggressive NSCLC cells.
