Selective dehydrogenation of tetrahydroisoquinolines in the presence of sulfoxides

open access: yes
1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroisoquinolines undergo selective dehydrogenation in the presence of compounds with a highly polar X=O bond, particularly sulfoxides, under aerobic conditions to give the corresponding 3,4-dihydroisoquinolines. The reaction can be carried

Photocatalytic Lignin Depolymerization and Cross‐Coupling With Alcohols to Produce Unsymmetric Aromatic Diols

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A photocatalytic approach for efficient one‐pot direct lignin depolymerization and subsequent cross‐coupling with alcohols for the production of unsymmetrical aromatic diols has been demonstrated. ABSTRACT Conversion of lignin into chemical products typically involves two separate steps, such as depolymerization and subsequent upgrading of monomers ...

High selectivity of oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene in an oxygen permeable membrane reactor

open access: yes, 2002
An oxygen permeable membrane based on Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8-Fe0.2O3-delta is used to supply lattice oxide continuously for oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene with selectivity as high as 90% at ...

Fundamental Understanding of Oxidative Stability in Fluorinated Asymmetric Ethers for Li Batteries

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
To improve Li‐metal battery electrolytes, we analyze fluorinated 1‐ethoxy‐2‐methoxyethane (FxEME) oxidative stability via density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics (MD). Fluorination strengthens ethoxy C–H bonds and alters solvent orientation at the cathode, weakening interfacial interactions.

Emerging Materials and Future Strategies for Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Solid oxide electrochemical cells operate under strongly coupled electrochemical and thermodynamic conditions, where performance is constrained by interactions among crystal structure, defect chemistry, and interfacial evolution. This review, based on a structure‐defect‐property‐durability framework, reveals the roles of lattice symmetry and defect ...

Dehydrogenation

open access: yesDehydrogenation
The dehydrogenation of saturated organic molecules is utilized for hydrogen production from potential hydrogen energy carriers, and for fundamental oxidation protocols in the manufacture of commodity chemicals. Catalytic dehydrogenative transformations can be divided into: (1) the decomposition of hydrogen storage compounds including formic acid[1–4 ...
