Synaptogenic activity of the axon guidance molecule Robo2 underlies hippocampal circuit function
Summary: Synaptic connectivity within adult circuits exhibits a remarkable degree of cellular and subcellular specificity. We report that the axon guidance receptor Robo2 plays a role in establishing synaptic specificity in hippocampal CA1.

Suppression of zinc dendrites in zinc electrode power cells [PDF]
Addition of various tetraalkyl quarternary ammonium salts, to alkaline zincate electrolyte of cell, prevents formation of zinc dendrites during charging of zinc electrode.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dendritic NMDA receptors in parvalbumin neurons enable strong and stable neuronal assemblies
Parvalbumin-expressing (PV+) GABAergic interneurons mediate feedforward and feedback inhibition and have a key role in gamma oscillations and information processing.

Widespread phosphorous excess in olivine, rapid crystal growth, and implications for magma dynamics
Trace element zoning is often used to unravel the crystallization history of phenocrysts in magmatic systems, but interpretation requires quantifying the relative importance of equilibrium versus disequilibrium.

Dendrites and conformal symmetry [PDF]
Progress toward characterization of structural and biophysical properties of neural dendrites together with recent findings emphasizing their role in neural computation, has propelled growing interest in refining existing theoretical models of electrical

Protein synthesis at synaptic sites on dendrites [PDF]
Studies over the past 20 years have revealed that gene expression in neurons is carried out by a distributed network of translational machinery. One component of this network is localized in dendrites, where polyribosomes and associated membranous ...

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Dynamics of electrocrystallization of dendritic zinc deposits in galvanostatic and potentiostatic modes [PDF]
In the work the dynamics of growth of zinc dendritic deposits in the galvanostatic and potentiostatic modes from an electrolyte containing 0.3 mol/L of ZnO, and 4 mol/L of NaOH has been studied. It has been shown that in galvanostatic conditions decrease

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells: A dendritic cell in disguise
Since their discovery, the identity of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) has been at the center of a continuous dispute in the field, and their classification as dendritic cells (DCs) has been recently re-challenged. pDCs are different enough from the rest of the DC family members to be considered a lineage of cells on their own. Unlike the exclusive
