Early Outcomes of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Complex Clinical Population
Introduction Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is a new emerging neuromodulation treatment that has been tried for multiple psychiatric conditions [1, 2]. Its major approved application is treatment-resistant depression (TRD) [1].

Citalopram plus low-dose pipamperone versus citalopram plus placebo in patients with major depressive disorder: an 8-week, double-blind, randomized study on magnitude and timing of clinical response [PDF]
Background: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors take several weeks to achieve their full antidepressant effects. Post-synaptic 5-HT2A receptor activation is thought to be involved in this delayed therapeutic effect ...

In situ TEM uncovers the atomic‐scale mechanisms underlying hydrogen‐driven γ‐Fe2O3→Fe3O4→FeO reduction. In γ‐Fe2O3, oxygen vacancies cluster around intrinsic Fe vacancies, leading to nanopore formation, whereas in Fe3O4, vacancy aggregation is suppressed, preserving a dense structure.

Brain SPECT perfusion and PET metabolism as discordant biomarkers in major depressive disorder
Background Brain SPECT perfusion and PET metabolism have been, most often interchangeably, proposed to study the underlying pathological process in major depressive disorder (MDD).

Cholinergic regulation of mood: from basic and clinical studies to emerging therapeutics. [PDF]
Mood disorders are highly prevalent and are the leading cause of disability worldwide. The neurobiological mechanisms underlying depression remain poorly understood, although theories regarding dysfunction within various neurotransmitter systems have ...

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Pharmacological Treatments for Patients with Treatment-Resistant Depression
Over a third of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) do not have an adequate response to first-line antidepressant treatments, i.e., they have treatment-resistant depression (TRD).

Background Anhedonia is one of the defining features of depression but it remains difficult to target and treat. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a proven treatment for depression, but its effects on anhedonia and whether anhedonia can be used ...

Anion‐excessive gel‐based organic synaptic transistors (AEG‐OSTs) that can maintain electrical neutrality are developed to enhance synaptic plasticity and multistate retention. Key improvement is attributed to the maintenance of electrical neutrality in the electrolyte even after electrochemical doping, which reduces the Coulombic force acting on ...
