Linoleic Acid Enhances Murine Natural Killer Cell Function In Vitro but Compromises Mitochondrial Bioenergetic Function During Retroviral Infection

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Natural Killer (NK) cells are potent effectors against virus‐infected and tumour cells. During Friend Virus (FV) infection, fatty acid metabolism supports NK‐cell effector functions. Here, we found that NK cells from FV‐infected mice preferentially take up linoleic acid (LA), which reduced proliferation, mitochondrial function, and increased reactive ...

Вплив гіпертермічного стресу на рослини, що експресують гібридні гени Δ-9- і Δ-12-ацил-ліпідних десатураз ціанобактерій

open access: yesФактори експериментальної еволюції організмів, 2015
Aims. Glycerolipid fatty acids desaturation is one of the most important reactions in plant cell determining parameters of cell membrane. Introduction of heterologous desaturase genes is expected to improve plant cold resistance, but may affect their ...

Modulation of sebocyte function in acne: A pathway‐inclusive review

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Acne is multifactorial, with the sebocyte acting as a central immunometabolic hub linking lipogenic, inflammatory, hormonal and barrier pathways. Mapping established and investigational therapies onto this sebocyte‐centred model offers a mechanism‐based framework that complements existing treatment paradigms and may guide more targeted, antibiotic ...

Genomic variation drives plant flavor diversification

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review explains how genomic variation shapes plant flavor by altering the biosynthetic and regulatory pathways of key attributes like sweetness, acidity, bitterness, piquancy, astringency, and aroma. It also discusses how multi‐omics, AI‐assisted breeding, and gene editing can translate this knowledge into plants with improved flavor, nutrition ...

Metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for production of eicosapentaenoic acid, using a novel δ5-desaturase from Paramecium tetraurelia.

open access: yes, 2011
Very-long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as arachidonic acid (ARA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), have well-documented importance in human health and nutrition.

Watermelon genotype‐independent transformation via direct organogenesis from the cotyledon base

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Inducing adventitious buds from the base of watermelon cotyledon through direct organogenesis resulted in a watermelon genetic transformation system that overcomes regeneration barriers and genotype limitations.

Fine‐tuning fatty acid composition enhances rice resistance to bacterial blight

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Genome editing to insert an inhibitory element into the 5' untranslated region of the stearoyl‐acyl carrier protein desaturase gene OsSSI2 fine‐tuned fatty acid composition, creating mutants with enhanced bacterial blight resistance while maintaining normal growth and yield.

The TaRNS4–TaPP2C10 module regulates wheat resistance to stripe rust through RNA degradation and MAPK cascades

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
In wheat, phosphorylation of the S‐like RNase TaRNS4 mediated by the kinase TaRLK5 promotes its degradation of Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici RNA in the apoplast, enhancing resistance to stripe rust. TaRNS4 can hijack phosphatase TaPP2C10 to relieve its dephosphorylation of TaMAPK6, thereby activating MAPK‐mediated immune responses. ABSTRACT RNase

Novel lipid derivatives for health benefits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Obesity is a public health concern and requires effective management with multiple approaches. Dietary supplements of bioactive compounds that can improve fatty acid oxidation and thermogenesis are currently in focus to develop anti-obese food ...
