Toxic Effects of Trichloroethylene on Rat Neuroprogenitor Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2018
Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a common volatile organic solvent which is considered as an ubiquitous environmental pollutant. It is claimed to be a developmental neurotoxicant.

Prospective, Longitudinal Assessment of Developmental Neurotoxicity

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1996
Methodological issues in the design of prospective, longitudinal studies of developmental neurotoxicity in humans are reviewed. A comprehensive assessment of potential confounding influences is important in these studies because inadequate assessment of confounders can threaten the validity of causal inferences drawn from the data.

TDP‐43 Aggregation: The Healthy‐Toxic Balance of the Prion‐Like Domain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TDP‐43 function relies on a delicate balance between reversible phase‐separated states and irreversible aggregation. Under physiological conditions, TDP‐43 forms dynamic droplets and oligomers that support normal cellular functions. In pathological contexts, this balance shifts toward aberrant aggregation, leading to toxic species.

Efficient Concentration and Complete Destruction of Short‐Chain and Emerging PFAS in Contaminated Water via Integrated Interface Engineering‐Enhanced Carbon Felt Sorption and Photochemical Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A closed‐loop “Concentrate‐Destroy” strategy is presented for completely eliminating short‐chain and emerging PFAS, in which the new 3D PPy@P‐CF is used for efficiently concentrating PFAS and Cu2+‐mediated photodegradation is applied for the completely destroying PFAS in the sorbent regeneration eluent.

Transcriptome analysis unveils the mechanisms of oxidative stress, immunotoxicity and neurotoxicity induced by benzotriazole UV stabilizer-328 in zebrafish embryos

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
As an emerging pollutant, ultraviolet stabilizer-328 (UV-328) has been frequently detected in aquatic environments and attracted great attention. Nevertheless, the toxicity and mechanisms of UV-328 to aquatic organisms are still not fully understood.

Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

Dihalogenated nitrophenols exposure induces developmental neurotoxicity in zebrafish embryo

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
2,6-Dihalogenated nitrophenols (2,6-DHNPs) are emerging halogenated nitroaromatic pollutants that have been detected in various water environments. However, there is currently limited research available regarding their potential impacts on locomotion ...

Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5 Mediates Astrocytic Pyroptosis and Neuroinflammation in Epilepsy via cGAS/STING Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocytic FABP5 promotes mitochondrial stress, cGAS‐STING pathway activation, pyroptosis, and neuroinflammation in epilepsy, contributing to seizure pathology. Genetic targeting of FABP5 or pharmacological inhibition of STING alleviates epileptic phenotypes, highlighting a potential therapeutic strategy for epilepsy.

Lead exposure induced transgenerational developmental neurotoxicity by altering genome methylation in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Heavy metal toxicity is a significant global health concern, with particular attention given to lead (Pb) exposure due to its adverse effects on cognitive development, especially in children exposed to low concentrations.

EphB1‐Mediated Transient Blood‐Brain Barrier Opening Facilitates a Ferritin‐Based Nanotherapeutic for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We constructed a brain‐targeted AFn‐DPZ nanodrug delivery system and identified EphB1 as its receptor on the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). This system facilitates drug transport across the BBB and thereby ameliorates cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease.
