Emotion Ontology From the Perspective of Developmental Robotics: A Review

open access: yesIEEE Access
Emotion ontology and developmental robotics are two rapidly evolving fields that, despite a shared interest in the nature and structure of emotions, have largely developed in isolation.

Arousal Regulation and Affective Adaptation to Human Responsiveness by a Robot that Explores and Learns a Novel Environment

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2014
In the context of our work in developmental robotics regarding robot-human caregiver interactions, in this paper we investigate how a ``baby'' robot that explores and learns novel environments can adapt its affective regulatory behavior of soliciting ...

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Incremental Development of Multiple Tool Models for Robotic Reaching Through Autonomous Exploration

open access: yesPaladyn, 2012
Autonomy and flexibility are two major requirements for modern robots. In particular, humanoid robots should learn new skills incrementally through autonomous exploration, and adapt to different contexts. In this paper we consider the problem of learning

Understanding Emotions in Children with Developmental Disabilities during Robot Therapy Using EDA

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Recent technological advancements have led to the emergence of supportive robotics to help children with developmental disabilities become independent. In conventional research, in robot therapy, experiments are often conducted by operating the robot out

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
