Embelin ameliorates dextran sodium sulfate-induced colitis in mice

International Immunopharmacology, 2011
Embelin has been used to treat fever, inflammatory diseases, and a variety of gastrointestinal ailments for thousands of years. Although reports indicate that embelin has anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects, its effects on ulcerative colitis have not been previously explored.

[Experimental colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium].

Hunan yi ke da xue xue bao = Hunan yike daxue xuebao = Bulletin of Hunan Medical University, 2001
In this study, experimental colitis in rats induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) was performed. Twenty rats freely drank 3% DSS solution for 10 days. During the 10 days, symptoms (diarrhea, hemafecia) were observed daily, and at the same time the rats were colon-endoscopied.

Intestinal Blood Flow in Murine Colitis Induced with Dextran Sulfate Sodium

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2002
The aim of this study was to assess whether colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS; 10% in tap water for 7 days) in BALB/c mice is associated with changes in intestinal blood flow. After anaesthesia, systemic hemodynamic variable and regional blood flows and resistances in various organs were measured in both control and DSS-treated mice.

Polyelectrolyte complexes of sodium dextran sulfate with chitosan, 2

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1977
AbstractSolutions of sodium dextran sulfate and chitosan were co‐reacted under various experimental conditions to form a water‐insoluble hydrous precipitate. The mole ratios of N/S in the polyelectrolyte complexes were estimated to be 0,79 to 2,54 depending on pH as well as on the mixing ratio of the complexing components.

Dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis in piglets

2018
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) results from complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors.Although a genetic contribution has been proven, dietary factors have also shown to play a role in the developmentof IBD.This study aims to investigate the effect of adding red meatto the diet of piglets in a dextran sodium sulfate (DSS ...

Dextran Sodium Sulfate-Induced Murine Inflammatory Colitis Model

2013
Colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon that is characterized by recurring, acute episodes. Mouse models of colitis allow for the study of multiple aspects of this disease, including the innate immune response, epithelial and intestinal cell response, and wound healing.

Induction of intestinal tumors in rats by dextran sulfate sodium.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 1981
The carcinogenicity of dextran sulfate sodium was studied in inbred ACI rats. In group 1, 10 male rats were fed a 10% dextran sulfate sodium diet; in group 2, 14 male and 12 female rats were fed a 5% dextran sulfate sodium diet; and in the control group, 9 male and 9 female rats were given the basal diet without dextran sulfate sodium.
