The Effect of DEAE Dextran, Dextran Sulfate and Dextran on Porcine Mixed Lymphocyte Reaction

Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe B, 2010
Summary The polycation DD moderately stimulated lymph node lymphocytes from pigs and considerably enhanced MLR. The latter effect was especially marked when the reaction was in the descending phase. The MLR was dependent on cell number, and there was a strong correlation between optimal effective DD dose and cell number.

Roquinimex inhibits dextran sodium sulfate-induced murine colitis

Inflammation Research, 2003
Roquinimex is a modulator of the immune system and has been shown to attenuate induction of several inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The objective of the present study was to determine the efficacy of roquinimex in a model of murine colitis. For this purpose, Balb/c mice were exposed to 5% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) in the drinking water for five

Glomerular Processing of Dextran Sulfate during Transcapillary Transport

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1996
The fractional clearance of dextran sulfate across the glomerular capillary wall in the isolated perfused kidney is shown to be dependent on the concentration of dextran sulfate in the perfusate and the degree of sulfate substitution on dextran sulfate.

Interactions between dextran sulfate and Escherichia coli ribosomes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1967
Abstract Dextran sulfate exhibited dual effects on Escherichia coli ribosomes causing aggregation at low concentrations and dissociation and eventual breakdown at high concentrations. By the use of radioactive dextran sulfate it was found that dextran sulfate, like poly(U) and other synthetic polynucleotides, binds to the 30-S subunit, but not to the

Dextran Sulfate Is Poorly Absorbed after Oral Administration

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1989
To determine whether dextran sulfate (molecular weight, 7000 to 8000 daltons; 17% to 20% sulfur), a synthetic heparin analogue with anti-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) activity in vitro, is absorbed after oral administration.Open-label, single-center study in two parts.

Preparation and Properties of Dextran Sulfate−Lysozyme Conjugate

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2009
The purpose of this research was to conjugate lysozyme with dextran sulfate (DS) under mild Maillard reaction conditions and to investigate the functional properties of the resulting conjugate. The covalent attachment of DS to lysozyme was confirmed by SDS-PAGE and cation-exchange chromatography.

Heparin cofactor II is degraded by heparan sulfate and dextran sulfate

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2015
Heparan sulfate normally binds to heparin cofactor II and modulates the coagulation pathway by inhibiting thrombin. However, when human heparin cofactor II was incubated with heparan sulfate, heparin cofactor II became degraded. Other glycosaminoglycans were tested, including hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfates, dermatan sulfate, and heparin, but ...

Mapping the dextran sulfate binding site on CD2

Immunology & Cell Biology, 1990
SummaryThis study has analysed the binding of a series of anti‐CD2 monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) to T cells in the presence of the sulfated polysaccharide dextran sulfate (2·3 sulfates/monosaccharide, 500 kDa) (DXS) to define the DXS binding site on CD2. The results show that DXS interacts primarily at the T112 epitope.

Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis in Immunodeficient Rats

Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2000
To examine the morphology of colitis and study the role of the immune system in colitis, we compared colitis in immunocompetent Wistar-Kyoto rats with that in spontaneously hypertensive rats, known to have T-cell dysfunction. Rats were treated with 3% dextran sulfate in drinking water for periods ranging from 3 to 60 days.

Dextran-sulfate cellulose adsorption for lowering Lp[a]

Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1994
Dextran sulfate selectively adsorbs lipoproteins that contain apolipoprotein-B100, including those associated with apolipoprotein-a, from human plasma with high affinity. Dextran sulfate immobilized on cellulose is incorporated into the Liposorber LA-15 system (Kaneka Corporation, Osaka, Japan).
