Screening of a dextransucrase inhibitor. [PDF]

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1982
A screening method for inhibitory activity against Streptococcus mutans dextransucrase (EC 2.4.1.5) was devised and applied to culture broths of microorganisms isolated from soil and sea water. Of about 7,000 tested, only one strain, identified as a species of Streptomyces neyagawaensis on the basis of morphological and physiological studies, was found

Convivina is a specialised core gut symbiont of the invasive hornet Vespa velutina

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 32, Issue 5, Page 510-527, October 2023., 2023
Culturomics and 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing of crop, midgut, hindgut and ovary samples revealed Convivina, Fructobacillus, Lactiplantibacillus, Lactococcus, Sphingomonas and Spiroplasma as predominant bacterial symbionts of Vespa velutina in Belgium.

Analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates by matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry: An update for 2019–2020

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 42, Issue 5, Page 1984-2206, September/October 2023., 2023
Abstract This review is the tenth update of the original article published in 1999 on the application of matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry to the analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates and brings coverage of the literature to the end of 2020.

Gluco‐oligosaccharides as potential prebiotics: Synthesis, purification, structural characterization, and evaluation of prebiotic effect

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 22, Issue 4, Page 2611-2651, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Prebiotics have long been used to modulate the gut microbiota and improve host health. Most established prebiotics are nondigestible carbohydrates, especially short‐chain oligosaccharides. Recently, gluco‐oligosaccharides (GlcOS) with 2–10 glucose residues and one or more O‐glycosidic linkage(s) have been found to exert prebiotic potentials ...

Karakteristik Isolat Bakteri Penghasil Dekstran dari Batang Tebu (Saccharum officinarum L.)

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Pertanian Indonesia, 2019
Dextran is a long chain of carbohydrate polymers synthesized by dextransucrase enzyme with sucrose as a substrate. The physical, chemical conditions, temperature, and the concentration of sucrose in the isolate bacterial growth media play an important ...

STUDIES ON DEXTRANSUCRASE

open access: yesTHE JOURNAL OF VITAMINOLOGY, 1965
1. Cell-free extracts prepared from strains of Leuc. mesenteroides grown on sucrose were found to reveal the production of riboflavinylglucoside from sucrose and riboflavin. Moreover, it was found that the extract utilized only sucrose as a glucosyl donor in the formation of riboflavinylglucoside, while glucose itself was quite ineffective.2.

Interactions between soil properties, agricultural management and cultivar type drive structural and functional adaptations of the wheat rhizosphere microbiome to drought

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 23, Issue 10, Page 5866-5882, October 2021., 2021
Summary Rhizosphere microbial communities adapt their structural and functional compositions to water scarcity and have the potential to substantially mitigate drought stress of crops. To unlock this potential, it is crucial to understand community responses to drought in the complex interplay between soil properties, agricultural management and crop ...

Bioprospecting of indigenous resources for the exploration of exopolysaccharide producing lactic acid bacteria

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, 2018
Exploration of biodiversity lead towards the discovery of novel exopolysaccharide (EPS) producing microbes that have multiple applications. The safety compatibility status of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) makes it an attractive candidate for the production ...

Cloning and characterization of a Weissella confusa dextransucrase and its application in high fibre baking. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Wheat bran offers health benefits as a baking ingredient, but is detrimental to bread textural quality. Dextran production by microbial fermentation improves sourdough bread volume and freshness, but extensive acid production during fermentation may ...
