Biomarker assessment in ROC curve analysis using the length of the curve as an index of diagnostic accuracy: the binormal model framework [PDF]
In receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, the area under the curve (AUC) is undoubtedly the most widely used index of diagnostic accuracy for the assessment of the utility of a biomarker or for the comparison of competing biomarkers ...

HOXA9-methylated DNA as a diagnostic biomarker of ovarian malignancy [PDF]
Aim: In ovarian cancer, methylated HOXA9 (meth-HOXA9) has been proposed as a relevant biomarker, however, its role in the carcinogenic development remains unknown.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Target product profile for a diagnostic assay to differentiate between bacterial and non-bacterial infections and reduce antimicrobial overuse in resource-limited settings: an expert consensus [PDF]
Acute fever is one of the most common presenting symptoms globally. In order to reduce the empiric use of antimicrobial drugs and improve outcomes, it is essential to improve diagnostic capabilities.

Circulating Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (Fgf21) as Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarker in Renal Cancer [PDF]
Background: The finding of new biomarkers is needed to have a better sub-classification of primary renal tumors (RCC) as well as more reliable predictors of outcome and therapy response.

DTI Histogram and Texture Features as Early Predictors of Post-Radiotherapy Cognitive Decline
Background: Radiotherapy for brain tumors can induce cognitive decline, yet most studies examine white matter (WM) damage six months post-treatment, overlooking early microstructural changes.
