β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Relationship between dietary intake and atherogenic index of plasma in cardiometabolic phenotypes: a cross-sectional study from the Azar cohort population

open access: yesJournal of Health, Population and Nutrition
Background Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of global mortality, with diet playing a key role in their progression. The Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) is a predictive marker for cardiovascular risk, but its association with dietary intake ...

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.

Restoration of gut dysbiosis through Clostridium butyricum and magnesium possibly balance blood glucose levels: an experimental study

open access: yesBMC Microbiology
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by an elevated level of blood glucose due to the absence of insulin secretion, ineffectiveness, or lack of uptake of secreted insulin in the body.

Hydrogel Microtube Drug Carrier for Catheter‐Based Intravascular Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This paper proposes hydrogel microtube carriers composed of barium alginate gel, enabling long‐term vascular retention without interrupting blood flow. Intravascular treatments have long been attracting attention for therapeutic efficacy, yet practical delivery methods remained unestablished.

A Modular Liver–Microbial Microfluidic Platform to Evaluate Therapeutic and Adverse Effects of Microbial Metabolites

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a modular microfluidic platform that connects liver cells with live microbes to mimic key aspects of the gut–liver interaction in steatosis. Using this system, both microbial metabolites and live bacteria significantly reduced fat accumulation in liver cells, but live microbes triggered inflammation and broader metabolic changes ...

The effect of prebiotic supplementation on serum levels of tryptophan and kynurenine in obese women with major depressive disorder: a double-blinded placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial

open access: yesBMC Research Notes
Objective The objective of the present study was to examine the effect of calorie restricted diet (CRD) plus inulin supplementation on serum levels of tryptophan (Trp), kynurenine (Kyn) and Trp/Kyn ratio in obese women with major depressive disorder (MDD)
