Effect of Menthol on SFRP1 Expression Level and HIF-1α/VEGF Signaling in Diethylnitrosamine-induced Kidney Damage in Male Mice [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ardabil University of Medical Sciences, 2023
Background: Many scientific Researches have shown that diethylnitrosamine, which is used to induce liver carcinoma, has destructive effects on the kidney. Menthol is a monoterpene type with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer effects.

The beneficial effect of natural antioxidants from olive oil with fig and date palm fruit extracts on biochemical and hematological parameters in rats during diethylnitrosamine-induced carcinogenesis

open access: yesFACETS, 2018
Diethylnitrosamine (DEN) is a well-known carcinogen. The aim of our study was to determine the role of olive oil (7 g/kg) with fig (1 g/kg) (OF) and (or) date palm (1 g/kg) (D) fruit extracts during DEN treatment of male Wistar rats.

Effects of Diethylnitrosamine on Lung Neuroendocrine Cells

open access: yesExperimental Lung Research, 1982
Diethylnitrosamine is known to cause squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the lung in Syrian golden hamsters. Sections of lungs obtained from hamsters treated with the systemic carcinogen diethylnitrosamine revealed a significant increase in the number of argyrophilic cells of neuroepithelial bodies.

Ultrastructure of altered hepatocytes induced by diethylnitrosamine (DENA) [PDF]

open access: yesToxicologic Pathology, 1982
Administration of diethylnitrosamine I.P. at dose level of 2 mg/kg five days a week to young Sprague-Dawley rats induced foci of altered hepatocytes entirely devoid of glucose-6-phosphatase and adenosine triphosphatase activity. Several weeks later, these foci developed hepatocellular carcinoma mostly of the trabecular type.

Hypothalamic Control of Liver Health and Disease: From Circuits to Pathophysiology and Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates the hypothalamic circuits that control liver homeostasis via autonomic and neuroendocrine pathways. Dysregulation of this hypothalamus–liver axis drives disease progression across a spectrum including steatotic liver disease, liver inflammation and injury, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Avocado Oil Attenuates Diethylnitrosamine Induced-Hepatic Carcinogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesBenha Veterinary Medical Journal, 2018
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of avocado oil against diethylnitrosamine (DEN) – induced hepatocarcinogenesis in rats. Rats were divided into 5 groups. Group (1) was negative control.

Defective apoptotic cell contractility provokes sterile inflammation, leading to liver damage and tumour suppression

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Apoptosis is characterized by profound morphological changes, but their physiological purpose is unknown. To characterize the role of apoptotic cell contraction, ROCK1 was rendered caspase non-cleavable (ROCK1nc) by mutating aspartate 1113, which ...
