Do timeouts matter? A study of euroleague Basketball

open access: yesJournal of Sports Analytics
This paper evaluates the effectiveness of timeouts in the EuroLeague using Play-by-Play data to estimate short-run within-game effects and Box-Score data to assess season-level outcomes over the 2021–22 to 2023–24 regular seasons.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

On the convergence of monotone schemes for path-dependent PDE

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a reformulation of the convergence theorem of monotone numerical schemes introduced by Zhang and Zhuo for viscosity solutions of path-dependent PDEs, which extends the seminal work of Barles and Souganidis on the viscosity solution of PDE.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Optimal Management and Differential Games in the Presence of Threshold Effects - The Shallow Lake Model [PDF]

open access: yes
: In this article we analyze how the presence of thresholds influences multi agent decision making situations. We introduce a class of discounted autonomous optimal control problems with threshold effects and discuss tools to analyze these problems ...

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

Anomalous Pressure‐Temperature Ultrahigh Sensitivities in Atomically Engineered Carbonitride MXenes for Multifunctional Wearable Human–Machine Interfaces: Joint Computational–Experimental Elucidations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically engineered layered 2D Ti3CNTz carbonitride MXene exhibits ultrahigh heat and pressure sensitivity, enabling dual‐mode sensors with 300%–400% performance enhancement and durability for real‐time health‐monitoring interface devices. Precise nitrogen incorporation (e.g., Ti3C1.8N0.2Tz) boosts conductivity, enhancing temperature response, while ...

Typology of media use and its associations with parent and child factors among elementary school children: a latent profile analysis

open access: yesBMC Psychology
Background Media use literature has predominantly adopted a variable-centered approach. However, a limitation of this approach is that it overlooks the nuanced differences between individual participants or groups in media use types.
