Temperature‐Enhanced Supramolecular Polymer Adhesion Provided by Concurrent Utilization of Calix[4]Pyrrole and Crown Ether Molecular Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Simultaneous utilization of calix[4]pyrrole‐ and crown ether‐based molecular recognition allows the construction of a high molecular weight alternating supramolecular polymer. This heat processible polymer can be used as a durable and reusable adhesive on glass and steel with temperature‐enhanced adhesion strength without the need for a solvent ...

Near‐Zero Thermal Expansion in Coordination Polymer Cd(1,2,4‐Triazole)2(H2PO4)2

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The structural dynamics and the chemical bonding origin of a volumetric near‐zero thermal expansion in a coordination polymer across 25 K to 400 K is studied using multi‐temperature X‐ray crystallography and X‐ray electron density analysis. The lattice expansion in the a and c directions is counteracted by contraction along b axis, caused by concerted ...

Organoid‐Like Neurovascular Spheroids Promote the Recovery of Hypoxic‐Ischemic Skin Flaps Through the Activation of Autophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Highly sprouting organoid‐like neurovascular spheroids (NVUs) are developed, featuring cell‐loaded poly‐3‐hydroxybutyrate 4‐hydroxybutyrate(P34HB) porous microsphere cores embedded within Gelatin Methacryloyl. NVUs formed complex vascular plexuses and secreted extracellular matrix in vitro, simulating autologous nerves and blood interaction.

β‐Glucuronidase‐Expressing Lactobacillus reuteri Triggers Irinotecan Enterotoxicity Through Depleting the Regenerative Epithelial Stem/Progenitor Pool

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
XLP mitigated CPT11 mucositis by suppressing GUS‐expressing microbes, notably L. reuteri, and diminishing bacterial GUS activity, consequently reducing SN38 accumulation to protect the intestinal epithelium. This preservation of the mucosal stem cell niche enabled rapid regeneration of secretory lineages such as mucin‐producing goblet cells, which ...

Taxonomy of Chemical Bondings: Opportunities and Challenges

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The recent focus on supramolecular and nanosized systems produced a major increase in the types of observed noncovalent interactions and in the diversity of terms used to designate them. A hierarchical categorization (taxonomy) of terms used to designate electrophile···nucleophile interactions is proposed here.

Molecular Studies of the Protein Complexes Involving Cis-Prenyltransferase in Guayule (Parthenium argentatum), an Alternative Rubber-Producing Plant

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Guayule (Parthenium argentatum) is a perennial shrub in the Asteraceae family and synthesizes a high quality, hypoallergenic cis-1,4-polyisoprene (or natural rubber; NR).

A Deoxyribonuclease from Calf Spleen. II. Mode of Action [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
When highly polymerized deoxyribonucleic acid is digested with pancreatic DNase and the digest further degraded with phosphodiesterase from intestinal mucose or snake venom, the mononucleotides formed are 5'-phosphates.

Quantum information in the Posner model of quantum cognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Matthew Fisher recently postulated a mechanism by which quantum phenomena could influence cognition: Phosphorus nuclear spins may resist decoherence for long times, especially when in Posner molecules. The spins would serve as biological qubits.

Engineering Electron Transfer Flux between Cytochrome P450 Enzyme and P450 Reductase to Enhance Serotonin Production in Escherichia Coli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The electron transfer flux in CPR‐P450 catalytic system is systematically engineered through: i) enhancing electron transfer rate by redesigning the putative electron transfer pathway of CPR; ii) improving electron‐receiving rate by evolving the heme domain of tryptophan‐5‐hydroxylase (T5H); iii) enlarging electron supply by fine‐tuning NADPH synthesis.

From Amino Acids to α‐Keto Acids via β‐Elimination and Transamination Initiates a Pathway to Prebiotic Reaction Networks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A reaction starting from two amino acids, phosphoserine and Gly, reveals a pathway to the α‐keto acid building blocks pyruvate and glyoxylate, key components of a plausible early metabolic system. A one‐pot β‐elimination and transamination sequence also initiates a cascade of protometabolic transformations that provide crucial insights into the ...
