Biomedical research often requires primary cultures of specific cell types, which are challenging to obtain at high purity in a reproducible fashion. Here we engineered the murine Rosa26 locus by introducing the diphtheria toxin receptor flanked by loxP ...

Proteome Analysis of Corynebacterium diphtheriae–Macrophage Interaction
ABSTRACT Contact of Corynebacterium diphtheriae with macrophages induces adaptations on both bacterial and cellular sides. The study presented here was aiming to shed light on the simultaneous intracellular adaptation of the bacteria and changes in the proteome of the phagocytes in response to the internalization of C. diphtheriae.

A method for the screening of tetanus and diphtheria antibodies in serum using anatoxin (inactivated toxin) instead of toxin was developed as an alternative to the in vivo toxin neutralization assay based on the toxin-binding inhibition test (TOBI test).

Diphtheria toxin has the properties of a lectin. [PDF]
The inhibition of protein synthesis in Chinese hamster V79 cells by diphtheria toxin is antagonized by the lectins concanavalin A, succinylated concanavalin A, and wheat germ agglutinin but not by Proteus vulgaris phytohemagglutinin or abrus agglutinin. The effects of concanavalin A and wheat germ agglutinin are reversed by methyl alpha-mannoside and N-

New biosensors and transgenic mice for multiplex cGMP imaging
Background and Purpose Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is a versatile second messenger that is important for human (patho‐)physiology and pharmacotherapy. Live‐cell imaging of cGMP with biosensors allows to elucidate its spatiotemporal dynamics in real time under close‐to‐native conditions. However, to monitor two separate cGMP pools or cGMP/cAMP

Anti‐HPV vaccine activists claimed that aluminum (Al) adjuvants in HPV vaccines could cause immune abnormalities, leading to neurological diseases. We evaluated the cytokine and histology profiles following administrations of HPV vaccines and other viral vaccines containing adjuvants.

Functional verification of the diphtheria toxin A gene in a recombinant system
Diphtheria toxin A (DTA), a segment of the diphtheria toxin (tox), inhibits protein synthesis in cells. When released from a cell, DTA is nontoxic and cannot enter other cells independently without the help of diphtheria toxin B.

Precursor in cotranslational secretion of diphtheria toxin [PDF]
By extracellular labeling of peptides of intact Corynebacterium diphtheriae, followed by fractionation of the cells and chain completion by isolated polysomes, it is shown that diphtheria toxin is formed and secreted cotranslationally by membrane-bound polysomes; free polysomes from none.
