Direct Yaw Moment Controller Design
2021In the previous two decades, numerous studies have been conducted into improving vehicle handling and stability by direct yaw moment control (DYC) [44], [119], [185]. Most traditional ICVs on the market are equipped with brake-based VDC systems.

Stabilizing direct yaw moment control based on a flexible set-membership constraint
2022 30th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2022Direct yaw moment control (DYC) can improve a vehicle’s cornering performance by controlling the torque applied to each wheel. However, an important aspect of DYC is dealing with constraints to ensure that torque can be achieved and the force is transferred from the tire to the road without losing traction.

Modeling and control of a hydraulic unit for direct yaw moment control in an automobile
Control Engineering Practice, 2006Abstract This paper deals with the feedback control of a hydraulic unit for direct yaw moment control, which actively maintains the dynamic stability of an automobile. The uncertain parameters and complex structure naturally call for empirical modeling of the hydraulic unit, which lead to a high-fidelity input/output model.

Testing direct yaw moment control using a scaled car and a roadway simulator
2022 45th Jubilee International Convention on Information, Communication and Electronic Technology (MIPRO), 2022This paper describes a direct yaw moment control algorithm which was developed and tested using a front-wheel drive scaled electric car driving on a treadmill. The algorithm generates torque references for each wheel based on the desired yaw rate. The scaled vehicle’s parameters are chosen with the goal of achieving dynamic similitude to a full-size ...

Impact of Delays for Electric Vehicles With Direct Yaw Moment Control
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2015This paper investigates the impact of time delay factors on the lateral motion of electric vehicles with direct yaw moment control (DYC). The existence of internal time delay factors is inescapable in electric vehicle (EV) systems, which might affect the effectiveness of DYC.

Direct yaw-moment control for in-wheel motor electric vehicles
2014 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration, 2014This paper proposes a new dynamic motion stabilization approach to front-wheel drive in-wheel motor electric vehicles. The approach embeds functions such as traction control system, electronic differential system, and electronic stability control. The presented electric vehicle was endowed with anti-skid performance in longitudinal accelerated start ...

Direct Yaw-moment Control Adapted to Driver Behavior Recognition
2006 SICE-ICASE International Joint Conference, 2006This paper proposes direct yaw moment control system (DYC) based on driver intention. Considering driving tasks in lateral motions there are lane keeping lane change and etc. To reflect the driver intention on DYC system two types of desired yaw rate are proposed. One is for the lane keeping control and the other is for vehicle stability control.

Vehicle Direct Yaw Moment Control with Longitudinal Forces Distribution
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014In this paper, a vehicle stability control system is proposed to improve vehicle comfort, handling and stability. The control system includes reference model, DYC controller and Distributer. Reference model is used to obtain the desired yaw rate. DYC controller determines the desired yaw moment by means of sliding-mode technique.
