A Novel Direct Yaw Moment Control System for Autonomous Vehicle
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2018<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Although autonomous driving technology has become an emerging research focus, safety is still the most crucial concern when autonomous vehicles leave research laboratory and enter public traffic. Direct yaw moment control (DYC), which differentially brakes the wheels to produce a

Direct yaw-moment control of vehicles based on phase plane analysis
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2021In view of the problems related to vehicle-handling stability and the real-time correction of the heading direction, nonlinear analysis of a vehicle steering system was carried out based on phase plane theory. Subsequently, direct yaw-moment control (DYC) of the vehicle was performed.

Direct Yaw-Moment Control Based on Lane Marker Detection
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2006<div class="htmlview paragraph">Various driver assistance systems have been developed for maintaining a vehicle in its lane. For example, systems that apply force to the steering gear to help the driver keep the vehicle in the center of its lane are becoming popular. On the other hand, direct yaw-moment control systems have been developed for use

Direct Yaw Moment Control for Motorized Wheel Electric Vehicles
Volume 6A: 18th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 2001Abstract A new control law for direct yaw moment control of an electric vehicle is developed. Although this study is considered as part of a global control system for the traction control of a four motorized wheel electric vehicle, but the results of this study is quite general and can be applied to other types of vehicles.

An electric vehicles which is equipped with the in-wheel motors have an advantages in terms of control. For example, by generating different torques at the left and right wheels, the vehicle stability in cornering can be improved. This is called the direct yaw moment control method.

Adaptive sliding mode-based direct yaw moment control for electric vehicles
2015 International Conference on Control, Automation and Information Sciences (ICCAIS), 2015The common sliding mode direct yaw moment control schemes for electric vehicles possess fixed controller parameters. In this paper, a new sliding mode direct yaw moment control scheme with two adaptive controller parameters is proposed, in order to enhance the system robustness against uncertainties and disturbances.

Direct yaw-moment control of in-wheel electric vehicle by sliding mode technique
2016 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2016In the paper, a direct yaw-moment control (DYC) strategy is proposed for in-wheel electric vehicles by using second-order sliding mode control technique. The ideal sideslip angle at the center of gravity and yaw rate are first calculated based on a linear two-degree of freedom vehicle model.

Modeling and control of a hydraulic unit for direct yaw moment control in an automobile
Control Engineering Practice, 2006Abstract This paper deals with the feedback control of a hydraulic unit for direct yaw moment control, which actively maintains the dynamic stability of an automobile. The uncertain parameters and complex structure naturally call for empirical modeling of the hydraulic unit, which lead to a high-fidelity input/output model.

A Blind Spot Assistance System Based on Direct Yaw-Moment Control
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2011<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper deals with a blind spot assistance system that assists the driver by generating yaw-moment when a driver's lane change maneuver is detected and when there is an object present in the blind spot area of the adjacent lane.

Application of sliding-mode theory to direct yaw-moment control
JSAE Review, 1999Abstract It has become popular to control vehicle manoeuvering with independent brakes for the avoidance of spin and drift-out. To ensure effective control, we applied sliding-mode theory, which enabled a robust control system against various driving conditions including changes in velocity, road friction and vehicle weight.
