Role and Mechanisms of the mTOR Signalling Pathway in the Synthesis of Milk Components

open access: yesModern Agriculture, Volume 3, Issue 1, June 2025.
The regulatory network system of mTOR regulates lactose, milk fat, and milk protein. Milk is urgently needed for the strong development of the dairy industry to meet the growing demand and ensure that the nutritional needs of the world's population are met.

Understanding how foods and enteral feedings influence the gut microbiome

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 555-574, June 2025.
Abstract The gut microbiome supports both gut and overall health. Diet is known to be one of the driving factors that influences the gut microbiome. The foods we eat, the dietary and nondietary components they contain, various food consumption patterns, and the ratio of nutrients consumed have been shown to impact gut microbiome composition and ...

Binding free energy analysis of galectin‐3 natural ligands and synthetic inhibitors

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Galectin‐3–ligand complexes are characterized by halogen, σ‐hole bonds, hydrogen bonds, cation‐π and CH‐π interactions. Here, we model these non‐covalent interactions with the AMOEBA polarizable force field and conduct an absolute binding free energy analysis on leading galectin‐3 inhibitors. Synthetic drug molecules GB0139, GB1107, and GB1211

Gene regulatory network analysis of silver birch reveals the ancestral state of secondary cell wall biosynthesis in core eudicots

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 5, Page 2059-2074, June 2025.
Summary The compact genome and lack of recent whole‐genome multiplication (WGM) events make the boreal pioneer tree silver birch (Betula pendula) a promising model for primary and secondary cell wall (PCW and SCW) regulation in forest trees. Here, we constructed regulatory networks through combined co‐expression and promoter motif analysis and carried ...

Deceptive Ceropegia sandersonii uses an arabinogalactan for trapping its fly pollinators

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 6, Page 2738-2752, June 2025.
Summary Many plant species have evolved surfaces that reduce insect attachment. Among such plants are deceptive trap flowers of Ceropegia. Their gliding zones consist of convex epidermal cells, each with a bristle‐like central protuberance and a single small liquid droplet on its tip.
