Anomalous diffusion in the nematic phase of thin disks
We report molecular-dynamics simulations of the anisotropic diffusion of infinitely thin platelets in the nematic phase. Our simulations are used to distinguish between the predictions of two different theories. The first theory, based on a mapping of the nematic phase of ellipsoidal particles on the hard-sphere fluid, predicts that both the ...

Evaluation and comparison of tests to detect methicillin resistant S. aureus
Background and Objectives: Phenotypic methods for detection of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) have been compared with the gold standard which, as of now, is by the detection of mecA gene and femA gene by polymerase chain reaction ...

: Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe a simple test to predict in vitro efficacy of aztreonam/avibactam (ATM-AVI) combination based on a pre-diffusion assay involving routinely available ceftazidime/avibactam (CAZ-AVI) and aztreonam (ATM ...

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.
