Non-analytic microscopic phase transitions and temperature oscillations in the microcanonical ensemble: An exactly solvable 1d-model for evaporation

open access: yes, 2006
We calculate exactly both the microcanonical and canonical thermodynamic functions (TDFs) for a one-dimensional model system with piecewise constant Lennard-Jones type pair interactions.

A model for pH determination during alcoholic fermentation of a grape must by Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A model to predict accurately pH evolution during alcoholic fermentation of must by Saccharomyces cerevisiae is proposed for the first time. The objective at least is to determine if the pH measurement could be used for predictive control.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Titrating Polyelectrolytes - Variational Calculations and Monte Carlo Simulations

open access: yes, 1995
Variational methods are used to calculate structural and thermodynamical properties of a titrating polyelectrolyte in a discrete representation. The Coulomb interactions are emulated by harmonic repulsive forces, the force constants being used as ...

Thermodynamic bounds on the ultra- and infra-affinity of Hsp70 for its substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The 70 kDa Heat Shock Proteins Hsp70 have several essential functions in living systems, such as protecting cells against protein aggregation, assisting protein folding, remodeling protein complexes and driving the translocation into organelles.

Comment on the "Thermodynamic dissociation constant of the bisulfate ion from Raman and ion interaction modeling studies of aqueous sulfuric acid at low temperatures".

open access: yes, 2005
The dissociation reaction of the bisulfate ion, HSO4- ⇌ SO42- + H+, is investigated in aqueous H2SO4 solutions with concentrations of 0.54−15.23 mol kg-1 in the temperature range of 180−326 K using Raman spectroscopy.

Sarilumab in Polyarticular‐Course Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: Dose‐Finding and One‐Year Analysis of a Phase 2b, Open‐Label, Multicenter Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This study assessed sarilumab in treating patients with polyarticular‐course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pcJIA). Methods This phase 2b, open‐label study (NCT02776735) consisted of three sequential parts (each with a core‐treatment and extension‐phase). During part 1, three doses were assessed in two weight groups (Group A/B: ≥30–60 kg/≥10–<

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Secondary aerosol formation from atmospheric reactions of aliphatic amines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Although aliphatic amines have been detected in both urban and rural atmospheric aerosols, little is known about the chemistry leading to particle formation or the potential aerosol yields from reactions of gas-phase amines.

Shock wave study and theoretical modeling of the thermal decomposition of c-C4F8 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The thermal dissociation of octafluorocyclobutane, c-C4F8, was studied in shock waves over the range 1150-2300 K by recording UV absorption signals of CF2.
