Dissolving Microneedles as Skin Allergy Test Device

open access: yesBiological & Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2017
The possibility of using dissolving microneedles (DMs) as a skin allergy test device was studied in rats. Poly-L-arginine was used as a model allergen. Dextran was used to prepare three kinds of DM array chips containing different doses of poly-L-arginine: 17.1±0.5 µg (low-dose DM), 42.2±0.8 µg (medium-dose DM), and 87.4±1.1 µg (high-dose DM); each 1.0

Advancement in dissolving microneedles drug delivery system for the management of Alzheimer’s disease: a systematic review

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences
Background Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease where the existing oral therapies are limited due to poor bioavailability, gastrointestinal side effects, and lack of brain-blood barrier crossing.

Hollow microneedles as a flexible dosing control solution for transdermal drug delivery

open access: yesMaterials Today Bio
Microneedles, small needle-like structures typically less than 1000 μm in length, are effective tools for transporting substances across biological barriers via minimally invasive pathways.

Metal–Organic Framework‐Preserved Thermostable Microneedle Patch for Minimally Invasive Detection and Monitoring of Kidney Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By growing a conformal ZIF‐8 protective layer directly on antibody‐functionalized microneedles, this work converts a fragile biosensing interface into a thermostable diagnostic platform. The MOF@MN patch enables minimally invasive NGAL detection from dermal ISF while supporting cold‐chain‐independent storage and transport for decentralized kidney ...

Microneedles Mediated Delivery of Nanodiamonds for Quantum Sensing of Free Radicals in Skin Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fluorescent nanodiamonds are nanoscale sensors capable of monitoring cellular stress responses. However, to function effectively, they must be delivered into cells or tissues. Here, we demonstrate their application in the skin by developing a dissolvable microneedle platform that dissolves after skin insertion, enabling the delivery of nanodiamonds ...

Precision design of dissolving microneedles via mechanically induced micro-vent and Capillary-Controlled Molding: From fabrication to mechanical characterization

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Dissolving microneedles with controlled geometry are difficult to fabricate reproducibly because liquid polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) molding is prone to meniscus failure and bubble entrapment. Here, we formed a PDMS master mold by directly inserting metal

3D‐Printed Corneal Substitutes: Materials, Fabrication, and Preclinical Progress

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Successful clinical translation of 3D‐printed corneal substitutes relies on the interplay between the bioink properties, cellular component, and the fabrication process. These factors influence the critical properties of the construct, including optical transparency, mechanical stability, suture retention, that ultimately govern long‐term stromal ...

Patterned Screen‐Printing Process for Substrate‐Free and Scalable Hyaluronic Acid Microneedle Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A substrate‐free microneedle array comprising a hybrid hyaluronic acid ink was fabricated via a scalable screen‐printing process for flexible transdermal drug delivery. Defect‐free mold filling was achieved using a vacuum‐assisted jig and a delayed drying system, and the use of this versatile platform for multi‐drug patterning and ex vivo skin ...

Stage‐Adaptive Janus Microneedle System for Redox‐Immune Regulation and Mitochondrial Protection in Infected Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Infected diabetic wounds are sustained by a vicious cycle of hyperglycemia‐driven bacterial infection, persistent oxidative stress, and excessive inflammation, which collectively disrupt the ordered progression of tissue repair. Here, we engineered a stage‐adaptive Janus microneedle patch (MN‐FeSAC‐PPE) to enable a staged therapeutic process ...
