Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Neural observer-based path following control for underactuated unmanned surface vessels with input saturation and time-varying disturbance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2019
In this study, a new neural observer-based dynamic surface control scheme is proposed for the path following of underactuated unmanned surface vessels in the presence of input saturation and time-varying external disturbance.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Similarities and differences between exosystem-model-based disturbance observer and model error compensator

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration
This paper clarifies the theoretical similarities and differences between the exosystem-model-based disturbance observer and the model error compensator. In 1972, Johnson proposed the exosystem-model-based disturbance observer.

Disturbance Observer-Based Robust Model Predictive Control for a Voltage Sensorless Grid-Connected Inverter With an LCL Filter

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
This paper proposes a disturbance observer-based robust model predictive control (MPC) for a voltage sensorless grid-connected inverter with an inductive-capacitive-inductive (LCL) filter.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Disturbance Observer-Based Robot End Constant Contact Force-Tracking Control

open access: yesComplexity, 2019
A disturbance observer-based hybrid sliding mode impedance control method is proposed in this paper, which is able to achieve robot end constant contact force-tracking control without force/torque sensors.
