Recognition Mechanism of Complementary Nucleobases and Sequences in DNA and RNA: Interplay of Watson–Crick Hydrogen Bond Formation and Base Stacking Interactions

open access: yesDNA
A/T(U) and G/C nucleobase pair formation in DNA and RNA is crucial to numerous fundamental biological processes, including replication, transcription, and translation.

Aptamer-Based Colorimetric Probe for trans-Zeatin Detection Using Unmodified Gold Nanoparticle

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2020
Trans-Zeatin is the major active phytohormone in immature corn kernels. Herein, a highly sensitive, good selective and simple aptamer-based colorimetric method for the detection of trans-zeatin was constructed.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Development of a Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)-Based DNA Biosensor for Detection of Synthetic Oligonucleotide of Ganoderma boninense

open access: yesBiosensors, 2013
An optical DNA biosensor based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) utilizing synthesized quantum dot (QD) has been developed for the detection of specific-sequence of DNA for Ganoderma boninense, an oil palm pathogen.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Bioelectronic DNA detection of human papillomaviruses using eSensor™: a model system for detection of multiple pathogens

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2003
Background We used human papillomaviruses (HPV) as a model system to evaluate the utility of a nucleic acid, hybridization-based bioelectronic DNA detection platform (eSensor™) in identifying multiple pathogens.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Strain promoted azide alkyne cycloaddition, an efficient surface functionalization strategy for microRNA magnetic separation

open access: yesNext Materials
In an emergency context, the detection of microRNA (miRNA), which are potential biomarkers of cardiovascular and muscular pathologies is hampered by the time required for the various steps involved: treatment of the patient sample, reverse transcription (
