Molecular markers, analysis and the population genetics of parasites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this study different molecular techniques are contrasted (RAPD's, allozyme, sequencing mtDNA, sequencing ribosomal spacers) and appropriate analytical methods (allelic and infinite-sites approaches; inbreeding and coalescent models) used for ...

A Non‐Canonical Role of SMAD4 in Regulating 3D Genome Architecture to Inhibit Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SMAD4 is identified as a guardian of 3D genome architecture in lung squamous cell carcinoma. Loss of SMAD4 unleashes EP300 at chromatin loop anchors, strengthening enhancer–promoter looping and H3K27ac at the SOX2 locus to drive aberrant SOX2 activation and tumor cell proliferation.

PCR amplification and characterization of the intergenic spacer region of the ribosomal DNA in Pyrenophora graminea [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1998
Successful amplification of the whole intergenic spacer region of the nuclear ribosomal repeat (IGS) in Pyrenophora graminea was obtained with a PCR-based assay. Single amplification products showed length differences. Depending on the length of the IGS-PCR product, ca. 3.8 or 4.4 kb, two groups of isolates could be identified.

Influence of bioturbation by the polychaete Nereis diversicolor on the structure of bacterial communities in oil contaminated coastal sediments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Patterns of change in the structure of bacterial communities monitored by ribosomal intergenic spacer analysis (RISA) in oil contaminated sediments inhabited or not by the marine polychaete Nereis diversicolor were studied during 45 days under laboratory

Synergistic HMGN1 and VP64 Fusions Potentiate High‐Precision and PAM‐Flexible Base Editing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel CDA1Δ‐SpRY architecture fused with HMGN1 and VP64 yields a nearly PAM‐less base editing platform. By focusing cytosine conversion predominantly at position −18, this synergistic complex ensures highly precise targeting. Demonstrating enhanced efficiency across diverse models, including yeast and rice, the platform offers a robust solution for ...

Pervasive Transcription-coupled DNA repair in E. coli

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Transcription-Coupled DNA repair has been classically defined as the preferential repair of the template strand (TS) over the non-template strand (NTS). Here the authors challenge this classic model of TCR by using a genome-wide repair assay, CPD-seq, as

Intergenic DNA sequences flanking the pseudo alpha globin genes of human and chimpanzee [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1983
We have determined the sequence of 2400 base pairs upstream from the human pseudo alpha globin (psi alpha) gene, and for comparison, 1100 base pairs of DNA within and upstream from the chimpanzee psi alpha gene. The region upstream from the promoter of the psi alpha gene shows no significant homology to the intergenic regions of the adult alpha 2 and ...

Tandem Duplication‐Driven Neofunctionalization of UDP‐Glycosyltransferases Shapes the Diversification of Triterpenoid Saponins in the Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.
