Kinetoplast DNA‐aggregating proteins from the parasitic protozoan Crithidia fasciculata
Proteins from C. fasciculata, which preferentially aggregate the parasite's AT‐rich mitochondrial (kinetoplast) DNA in vitro, are reported. The aggregation is non‐topological, non‐covalent, independent of Mg2+ and ATP, but much improved by spennidine. We discuss how these proteins might modulate the shape and size of the parasite's mitochondrial genome.

ABSTRACT Identifying the drivers of chronic stress is crucial for understanding its impact on mental health. Latent toxoplasmosis, a widespread parasitic infection, has been linked to various psychological changes. The Stress‐Coping Hypothesis proposes that at least some of these changes are consequences of chronic stress arising from the infection's ...

Impairment of hepato‐intestinal homeostasis triggered by ST2 deficiency during T. cruzi infection. Within the splenic compartment, immune dysregulation is marked by a robust pro‐inflammatory polarization of the T‐cell landscape. In the liver, ST2 deficiency is associated with hepatocellular injury, increased parasite burden, and hyperalbuminemia ...

R-loops acted on by RNase H1 influence DNA replication timing and genome stability in Leishmania
Genomes in eukaryotes normally undergo DNA replication in a choreographed temporal order, resulting in early and late replicating chromosome compartments. Leishmania, a human protozoan parasite, displays an unconventional DNA replication program in which
