Hepatic Mechanisms and Therapeutic Target Underpinning Hypercoagulation in Obesity: Insights From Genetic and Transcriptomic Analyses

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Obesity‐linked hypercoagulation is driven by fibrinogen overproduction in a specific hepatocyte cluster via IL6 signalling. Genetic and mechanistic studies reveal this pathway as a key target for therapies to mitigate clotting risks and associated complications in obese individuals.

Improving genetic diagnosis of hereditary tumor syndromes: From expanded gene panels to functional genomics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Genetic tumor risk syndromes (genturis) contribute substantially to the overall cancer burden and provide opportunities for early detection, prevention, and individualized treatment. Yet, many affected individuals remain undiagnosed due to restrictive testing criteria and challenges in variant interpretation.

Clinical Relevance of BACH1 Expression in Non–Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT BTB and CNC homolog 1 (BACH1) is a redox‐sensitive transcription factor implicated in tumor progression, metabolic reprogramming, and therapy resistance in several cancers. However, its prognostic significance and role in therapy resistance in non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear.

Unlocking insights: Validating a comprehensive model for predicting spontaneous preterm delivery and microbial invasion in women facing preterm labor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Preterm labor is a multifactorial syndrome with diverse etiologies such as infection, inflammation, uteroplacental dysfunction, stress, and immune dysregulation. Identifying women at high risk remains a challenge, and multivariate prediction models have been developed to enhance risk stratification.

Ribosomal DNA in the Rat

Nature, 1969
THE amount of DNA complementary to ribosomal RNA (rDNA) has been shown to be constant in several tissues varying in rRNA synthesis1,2. There is, however, a dramatic exception to this in amphibian and insect oocytes3–5, where amplification of the rDNA occurs and results in high rates of rRNA synthesis during oogenesis6.

Circular ribosomal DNA and ribosomal DNA: replication in somatic amphibian cells

Chromosoma, 1975
Pulse labelled rDNA from cultured somatic cells of Xenopus laevis was examined by electron microscope autoradiography. The pattern of replication closely resembles that of bulk chromosomal DNA and differs considerably from rDNA synthesis during amplification in the oocyte.

Non-canonical DNA structures in the human ribosomal DNA

Histochemistry and Cell Biology, 2023
Non-canonical structures (NCS) refer to the various forms of DNA that differ from the B-conformation described by Watson and Crick. It has been found that these structures are usual components of the genome, actively participating in its essential functions.

Structure and organization of ribosomal DNA

Biochimie, 1991
Three trends are seen in the organization of ribosomal DNA genes during evolution: 1) gradual separation and separability of the regulation of transcription of 5S and larger subunit rRNAs; 2) retention of a transcription unit containing both large and small rRNAs; and 3) clustering of genes for both 5S and 18S-28S rDNAs, with the possible association ...

Ribosomal DNA as target for the assessment of DNA degradation of human and canine DNA

Legal Medicine, 2021
The assessment of DNA amount and DNA integrity can support forensic DNA analysis, in particular of problematic traces such as single telogen hairs where STR typing success is often hampered by low amounts and strong degradation of nuclear DNA. Common strategies consist of quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR)-based analysis of the abundance of ...

Heterogeneity in cucumber ribosomal DNA

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1986
Restriction and hybridization analysis of cucumber native ribosomal (r) DNA purified from actinomycin-D/CsCl gradients suggested that the repeat units were heterogeneous in both length and sequence. Several full length rDNA repeat units were cloned and five are described which account for all the EcoR I and Xba I fragments present in native DNA. One of
