Bundling up DNA

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Structures known as chromocenters, comprising satellite DNA and proteins such as D1 or HMGA1, help to contain DNA inside the nucleus between cell divisions.

Circular RNA circNrip1 Interacts with SYNCRIP to Promote Neuropathic Pain by Stabilizing Tlr2 mRNA in Primary Sensory Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Model of circNrip1 (cNrip1) upregulation driving neuropathic pain mechanisms. After peripheral nerve injury, increased FUS triggers the formation and upregulation of cNrip1 in injured DRG neurons. Upregulated cNrip1 recruits SYNCRIP to the 3′‐UTR of Tlr2 mRNA by binding to both, thereby promoting SYNCRIP‐triggered Tlr2 mRNA stability and increasing ...

Evolution of repetitive DNA in angiosperms: examples from Nicotiana allopolyploids

open access: yes, 2012
PhDAllopolyploidy, interspecific hybridisation coupled with genome multiplication, is a prevailing force in the evolution of angiosperms. This thesis examines the consequences of allopolyploidy at the genomic level.

Comparative Analysis of Satellite DNA in the Drosophila melanogaster Species Complex

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2017
Satellite DNAs are highly repetitive sequences that account for the majority of constitutive heterochromatin in many eukaryotic genomes. It is widely recognized that sequences and locations of satellite DNAs are highly divergent even in closely related ...

FGF13 Deficiency Ameliorates Paclitaxel‐Induced Neuropathic Pain by Inhibiting VASH1‐Mediated Microtubule Detyrosination to Promote Mitophagy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FGF13 is upregulated in DRG neurons of PIPNP model mice. DRG neuron‐specific knockout of FGF13 ameliorates PIPNP symptoms. Mechanistically, FGF13 potentiates microtubule detyrosination by promoting VASH1 binding to microtubules. FGF13 knockout suppresses VASH1‐mediated microtubule detyrosination and promotes α‐tubulin tyrosination.

Genomic characterization of repetitive DNA and transposable elements in Dyckia (Pitcairnioideae) species

open access: yesBMC Research Notes
Objective Repetitive DNA comprises the majority of nuclear genomes in eukaryotes and is critical for genome stability, gene regulation and evolutionary innovation. Yet, most genomic surveys focus on lowcopy regions, leaving repeats underexplored.

Survey of extrachromosomal circular DNA derived from plant satellite repeats

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2008
Background Satellite repeats represent one of the most dynamic components of higher plant genomes, undergoing rapid evolutionary changes of their nucleotide sequences and abundance in a genome.

HNRNPD Induces Radioresistance in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma by Sequestering GRAMD4 mRNA in Stress Granules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HNRNPD promotes radioresistance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma by enhancing stress granule assembly and sequestering GRAMD4 mRNA. This suppresses GRAMD4 translation and inhibits mitochondrial apoptosis. Targeting the integrated stress response with ISRIB restores GRAMD4 expression and sensitizes tumors to radiotherapy, revealing a translational control ...

MBD4 Interacts with and Recruits USP7 to heterochromatic foci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
MBD4 is the only methyl-CpG binding protein that possesses a C-terminal glycosylase domain. It has been associated with a number of nuclear pathways including DNA repair, DNA damage response, the initiation of apoptosis, transcriptional repression, and ...
