Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

DeepSNVMiner: a sequence analysis tool to detect emergent, rare mutations in subsets of cell populations [PDF]
Background. Massively parallel sequencing technology is being used to sequence highly diverse populations of DNA such as that derived from heterogeneous cell mixtures containing both wild-type and disease-related states.

Exploring genome wide bisulfite sequencing for DNA methylation analysis in livestock: a technical assessment [PDF]
peer-reviewedRecent advances made in “omics” technologies are contributing to a revolution in livestock selection and breeding practices. Epigenetic mechanisms, including DNA methylation are important determinants for the control of gene expression in ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Some mathematical problems in genetics
After an introduction to genetic basics three problems are briefly discussed: microarray data analysis, a definition of noninformative DNA sequence, and genetic sequence alignment. More atention is paid to DNA sequence visualization and regularization of

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Molecular characterization of Colletotrichum species causing Begonia anthracnose in Sri Lanka
Anthracnose disease is known to affect many tropical and subtropical fruits, vegetables and also certain cut-flowers and foliage plants. The disease was known to be caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides or C.
