Testing for donor-specific antibodies in renal transplantation: Indian perspective

open access: yesIndian Journal of Transplantation, 2020
The evaluation of donor-specific antibodies by Luminex single-antigen bead assay (in addition to other crossmatch tests) to assess pretransplant immunological risk should be performed in recipients (especially with a history of prior sensitization) even ...

Chronic Renal Allograft Dysfunction Antibody-Mediated: An Update [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Medical Journal Nephrology, 2014
This paper reviews the most important studies on chronic antibody-mediated rejection (cABMR), which is an important cause of late graft dysfunction after renal transplantation.

Kinetics of Torque Teno Virus Viral Load Is Associated with Infection and De Novo Donor Specific Antibodies in the First Year after Kidney Transplantation: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesViruses, 2023
Torque teno virus (TTV) was recently identified as a potential biomarker for the degree of immunosuppression, and potentially as a predictor of rejection and infection in solid organ transplant patients.

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Unravelling the role of allo-antibodies and Transplant Injury

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2016
Alloimmunity driving rejection in the context of solid organ transplantation can be grossly divided into mechanisms predominantly driven by either T cell-mediated rejection (TCMR) or antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR), though the co-existence of both ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

HLA antibodies are associated with deterioration of kidney allograft function irrespective of donor specificity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND Donor-specific antibodies are associated with high immunological risk and poor allograft outcome. Risk and clinical relevance of non-donor-specific HLA antibodies is less clear.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

No association between islet cell antibodies and coxsackie B, mumps, rubella and cytomegalovirus antibodies in non-diabetic individuals aged 7–19 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Viral antibodies were tested in a cohort of 44 isletcell antibody-positive individuals age 7–19 years, and 44 of their islet cell antibody-negative age and sex-matched classmates selected from a population study of 4208 pupils who had been screened for ...
