Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

The microbiome in human skin aging
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Patients undergoing renal transplantation frequently have non-donor-specific HLA antibodies (NDSA). There could be NDSA (e.g. a negative crossmatch in a sensitized patient), or could be donor-specific HLA antibodies (DSA) (e.g., antibody-incompatible ...

Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Pre-existing HLA antibodies are a well-established causal factor for rejection and graft dysfunction after solid-organ transplantation. In lung transplant recipients, the significance of HLA antibodies has not been fully established.

Absence of Donor-Specific Anti-HLA Antibodies After ABO-Incompatible Heart Transplantation in Infancy: Altered Immunity or Age? [PDF]
Specific B-cell tolerance toward donor blood group antigens develops in infants after ABO-incompatible heart transplantation, whereas their immune response toward protein antigens such as HLA has not been investigated.

Redefining Cardiac Antibody-Mediated Rejection With Donor-Specific Antibodies and Graft Dysfunction. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Heart transplant recipients with donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) have an increased risk for antibody-mediated rejection. However, many patients with graft dysfunction and DSA do not have evidence of antibody-mediated rejection by endomyocardial biopsy (EMB).
