TSPO upregulation in bipolar disorder and concomitant downregulation of mitophagic proteins and NLRP3 inflammasome activation [PDF]
Bipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic, debilitating illness with a global prevalence of up to 4.8%. The importance of understanding how dysfunctional mitochondria and mitophagy contribute to cell survival and death in BD is becoming increasingly apparent.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Cannabidiol stimulates AML-1a-dependent glial differentiation and inhibits glioma stem-like cells proliferation by inducing autophagy in a TRPV2-dependent manner [PDF]
Glioma stem-like cells (GSCs) correspond to a tumor cell subpopulation, involved in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) tumor ini- tiation and acquired chemoresistance.

Hypoxia-induced pRB hypophosphorylation results from downregulation of CDK and upregulation of PP1 activities [PDF]
Exposure of CV-1P cells to hypoxic conditions results in reversible cell cycle arrest concomitant with accumulation of pRB in the hypophosphorylated, growth suppressive form. Similar to cell cycle arrest induced by serum starvation, we show here that hypoxia-induced arrest is accompanied by a decrease in pRB-directed CDK4 and CDK2 activities, lower ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

microRNA-153 Targets mTORC2 Component Rictor to Inhibit Glioma Cells. [PDF]
Rictor upregulation and mTORC complex 2 (mTORC2) over-activation participate in glioma cell progression, yet the underling mechanisms are not known. We here identified microRNA-153 (miR-153) as a potential anti-Rictor miRNA, which was downregulated in ...

The Effect of a Reduced-Calorie Diet on alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptor Responsiveness in Abdominal Adipose Tissue in Obese Men During Exercise [PDF]
There is at present an imperfect understanding of the effect of diet on availability of inhibitory receptors in fat cells during exercise among obese men. *Objective:* The purpose of this study was to determine whether diet results in

Differential Hox expression in murine embryonic stem cell models of normal and malignant hematopoiesis [PDF]
The Hox family are master transcriptional regulators of developmental processes, including hematopoiesis. The Hox regulators, caudal homeobox factors (Cdx1-4), and Meis1, along with several individual Hox proteins, are implicated in stem cell expansion ...

Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.
