Clozapine treatment in patients living in the community [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to assess clozapine treatment in the local community with respect to patient monitoring during dispensing, patient compliance through prescription refills, presence of any other existing co-morbidities and ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Antimicrobial and Anti-Inflammatory Potentials of Silver Tungstate Nanoparticles, Cytotoxicity and Interference on the Activity of Antimicrobial Drugs

open access: yesDrugs and Drug Candidates
Background: Bacterial resistance to antimicrobial drugs is a critical phenomenon that is hampering clinical treatments, raising the need for promising compounds that can be explored as pharmaceutical products.

Fluoroquinolone Efficacy against Tuberculosis Is Driven by Penetration into Lesions and Activity against Resident Bacterial Populations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fluoroquinolones represent the pillar of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment, with moxifloxacin, levofloxacin, or gatifloxacin being prescribed to MDR-TB patients.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

DPDDI: a deep predictor for drug-drug interactions

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2020
Background The treatment of complex diseases by taking multiple drugs becomes increasingly popular. However, drug-drug interactions (DDIs) may give rise to the risk of unanticipated adverse effects and even unknown toxicity.

Local and global modes of drug action in biochemical networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
It becomes increasingly accepted that a shift is needed from the traditional target-based approach of drug development to an integrated perspective of drug action in biochemical systems. We here present an integrative analysis of the interactions between

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
