We generalize the magnetically enhanced radiative torque (MRAT) theory for astrophysical environments described by a dimensionless parameter U /( n _1 T _2 ) with U the radiation strength, n _1 = n _H /(10 cm ^−3 ) the normalized hydrogen density, and ...

Dust grain growth and the formation of the extremely primitive star SDSS J102915+172927
Dust grains in low-metallicity star-forming regions may be responsible for the formation of the first low-mass stars. The minimal conditions to activate dust-induced fragmentation require the gas to be pre-enriched above a critical dust-to-gas mass ratio

Collisions of inhomogeneous pre-planetesimals [PDF]
In the framework of the coagulation scenario, kilometre-sized planetesimals form by subsequent collisions of pre-planetesimals of sizes from centimetre to hundreds of metres.

This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

A Clay-Based Geopolymer in Loess Soil Stabilization
Soil erosion has environmental and socioeconomic significances. Loess soils cover about 10% of the global land area. Most of these soils are subjected to increased land uses such as unpaved roads, which increase soil destruction and dust emission to the ...

Dust in the Local Interstellar Wind [PDF]
The gas-to-dust mass ratios found for interstellar dust within the Solar System, versus values determined astronomically for the cloud around the Solar System, suggest that large and small interstellar grains have separate histories, and that large ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Mapping Dust Attenuation and the 2175 Å Bump at Kiloparsec Scales in Nearby Galaxies
We develop a novel approach to measure the dust attenuation properties of galaxies, including the dust opacity, the shape of the attenuation curve, and the strength of the 2175 Å absorption feature.

Evolution of Dust-to-Metal Ratio in Galaxies
This paper investigates the evolution of the dust-to-metal ratio in galaxies based on a simple evolution model for the amount of metal and dust with infall.
