Dutasterid hat eine ungewöhnlich lange Halbwertszeit und erscheint nach bisherigem Wissen als ähnlich wirksam wie Finasterid. Die Symptome der Prostathyperplasie werden von diesen Substanzen eher weniger gut gelindert als von Alphablockern.
