Learning Bilingual Word Representations by Marginalizing Alignments

open access: yes, 2014
We present a probabilistic model that simultaneously learns alignments and distributed representations for bilingual data. By marginalizing over word alignments the model captures a larger semantic context than prior work relying on hard alignments.

Deterministic chaos theory and forecasting in Social Sciences. Contribution to the discussion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Forecasting social phenomena may be hampered in many ways. This is because in nature of these phenomena lies strong and multilateral connection with other social phenomena; but not only – also physical and biological (natural) ones.

Smooth Optimised A*-Guided DWA for Mobile Robot Path Planning

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In mobile robot path planning, the traditional A* algorithm suffers from high path redundancy and poor smoothness, while the Dynamic Window Approach (DWA) tends to deviate from the global optimal path and has low efficiency in avoiding dynamic obstacles ...

Microrobot Path Planning Based on the Multi-Module DWA Method in Crossing Dense Obstacle Scenario

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
A hard issue in the field of microrobots is path planning in complicated situations with dense obstacle distribution. Although the Dynamic Window Approach (DWA) is a good obstacle avoidance planning algorithm, it struggles to adapt to complex situations ...

Robust vetoes for gravitational-wave burst triggers using known instrumental couplings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The search for signatures of transient, unmodelled gravitational-wave (GW) bursts in the data of ground-based interferometric detectors typically uses `excess-power' search methods.

Estimation of Genetic Variance and Breeding Values for Infectious Disease Susceptibility From Simulated Longitudinal Data Using Generalized Linear Mixed Models Based on Transmission Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent theoretical work shows that the potential of genetic selection to reduce the prevalence of infectious diseases is much larger than expected from classical quantitative genetic theory, due to indirect genetic effects that arise in the transmission process. However, to fully benefit from these indirect effects, we need to estimate genetic

Vector Field‐Based Collision‐Free Navigation in Tunnel‐Like Environments

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 2521-2547, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Tunnel‐like environments, renowned for their vast scale, confined spaces, and limited visibility, present significant challenges for autonomous robot navigation. This study addresses the critical issue of guiding robots through such environments while ensuring collision‐free navigation and maintaining a specified safety margin from both tunnel

Study of Resistive Switching Dynamics and Memory States Equilibria in Analog Filamentary Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM via Compact Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 7, 6 April 2026.
A physics‐based compact model for Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM, accounting for ion dynamics, electronic conduction, and thermal effects, is presented. Accurate and versatile simulations of analog non‐volatile conductance modulation and memory state stabilization enable reliable circuit‐level studies, advancing the optimization of neuromorphic and ...

Agrivoltaic System Potential to Mitigate Effects of Climate Change in Viticulture

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Climate change intensifies heatwaves, droughts, and shifting phenology in vineyards, threatening wine production. Historical meteorological data, onsite measurements, and climate projections reveal rising temperatures, up to 5.8°C by 2100 in wine‐growing regions like Hatzenport (Germany).
