Penetration into Cancer Cells via Clathrin-Dependent Mechanism Allows L-Asparaginase from Rhodospirillum rubrum to Inhibit Telomerase

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2020
The anticancer effect of L-asparaginases (L-ASNases) is attributable to their ability to hydrolyze L-asparagine in the bloodstream and cancer cell microenvironment.

Altered brain energetics induces mitochondrial fission arrest in Alzheimer's Disease. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Altered brain metabolism is associated with progression of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Mitochondria respond to bioenergetic changes by continuous fission and fusion.

Long‐Read Genome Sequencing Establishes Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in DNM1 With Distinct Functional Effects as the Cause of Early Infantile Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heterozygous de novo and inherited biallelic pathogenic variants in DNM1 have been reported in association with autosomal dominant (AD) and autosomal recessive (AR) developmental and epileptic encephalopathy, respectively, due to aberrant dynamin function or expression, with each inheritance pattern associated with a different mechanism of ...

FtsZ-less prokaryotic cell division as well as FtsZ- and dynamin-less chloroplast and non-photosynthetic plastid division

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
The chloroplast division machinery is a mixture of a stromal FtsZ-based complex descended from a cyanobacterial ancestor of chloroplasts and a cytosolic dynamin-related protein (DRP) 5B-based complex derived from the eukaryotic host.

Dynamin recruitment and membrane scission at the neck of a clathrin-coated pit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Dynamin, the GTPase required for clathrin-mediated endocytosis, is recruited to clathrin-coated pits in two sequential phases. The first is associated with coated pit maturation; the second, with fission of the membrane neck of a coated pit.

Overexpression of mitofusin 2 ameliorates inflammation and oxidative stress in lipopolysaccharide‐induced mastitis model by regulating phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The interaction between mitofusin 2 (MFN2) and phosphofurin acidic cluster sorting protein 2 regulates the formation of mitochondria‐associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAM). Overexpression of MFN2 can promote the formation of MAMs and inhibit inflammation and oxidative stress response in mammary epithelial cells.

Role of disclinations in determining the morphology of deformable fluid interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the equilibrium shapes of vesicles, with an in-plane nematic order, using a Monte-Carlo scheme and show that highly curved shapes, like tubes and discs, with a striking similarity to the structures engendered by certain curvature sensing ...

Myo‐Inositol Mitigates Oxidative Stress in Bovine Mammary Epithelial Cells via Activation of the SIRT5/Nrf2 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Myo‐inositol alleviates oxidative stress in dairy cow mammary epithelial cells via the Sirt5/Nrf2 pathway to promote mitochondrial fusion. This graphical abstract was created with BioRender.com. ABSTRACT High‐yielding dairy cows are susceptible to mammary gland oxidative stress due to prolonged intensive lactation, leading to redox imbalance.

Dynamic clustering of dynamin-amphiphysin helices regulates membrane constriction and fission coupled with GTP hydrolysis

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Dynamin is a mechanochemical GTPase essential for membrane fission during clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Dynamin forms helical complexes at the neck of clathrin-coated pits and their structural changes coupled with GTP hydrolysis drive membrane fission ...

Paxillin facilitates timely neurite initiation on soft-substrate environments by interacting with the endocytic machinery. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Neurite initiation is the first step in neuronal development and occurs spontaneously in soft tissue environments. Although the mechanisms regulating the morphology of migratory cells on rigid substrates in cell culture are widely known, how soft ...
