Shared and specific molecular mechanisms of proteasome inhibitors in chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neurotoxicity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 5120-5147, August 2026.
This study compares the molecular mechanisms of chemotherapy‐related peripheral neurotoxicity of two proteasome inhibitors, bortezomib and carfilzomib, using a multidisciplinary approach to reveal that, alongside shared effects on mitochondria structure and function, the more neurotoxic drug BTZ has specific effects on microtubules and mitochondrial ...

Opposing roles of DGAT‐mediated lipid droplet biogenesis in the regulation of ferroptosis sensitivity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 15, Page 4508-4532, August 2026.
Ferroptosis is driven by unrestricted peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acyl (PUFA) chains in membrane phospholipids. In triple‐negative breast cancer cells, lipid droplets (LDs) sequester dietary PUFAs, limiting their incorporation into membrane phospholipids, preventing mitochondrial damage, and reducing lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.

The TG2/LRP1 Pathway for T Cell Activation by Post‐Translationally Modified Antigens

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 341, Issue 1, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Post‐translational modifications (PTMs) can generate neo‐epitopes, modified peptides that evade immune tolerance and trigger immune responses. This review focuses on the TG2/LRP1 pathway as a new paradigm for coupling the formation of post‐translationally modified peptides with their effective presentation as T‐cell antigens by dendritic cells.

Exploring thylakoid emergence: evolution of membrane biogenesis and photosystem II assembly in early‐diverging cyanobacteria

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 3, Page 1329-1343, August 2026.
Overview of the results. Phylogenetic analyses of 36 assembly factors of photosystem II (PSII) and 13 proteins involved in membrane dynamics summarized in Siebenaller & Schneider (2023) were performed to investigate the taxonomic distributions and structural differences between the thylakoid‐less Gloeobacterales and the Phycobacteria. Summary Thylakoid

Porphyromonas gingivalis Outer Membrane Vesicles‐Associated DNA Triggers Inflammation by Inducing IL‐6 in Astrocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 227-238, August 2026.
Pg releases OMVs which contain Pg genomic DNA. The Pg OMVs‐associated DNA is incorporated into astrocytes via endocytosis and increases IL‐6 mRNA expression via TLR9. These effects of Pg OMVs may induce neuroinflammation, which could contribute to the onset and progression of AD in periodontal disease.
