Polyvinyl alcohol stabilized ZnS nanoaggregates using organosulfur source for photocatalytic disintegration of methyl orange dye

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
ZnS nanoaggregates surface-passivated by a hydroxyl-based polymer matrix, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), have been synthesized using a wet chemical method and an organosulphur precursor. The nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, SEM, and FTIR.

Barriers to Socio-economic Opportunities in Africa: An e-Government Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Various barriers to socio-economic opportunities in Africa are explored though e-Government as a lens of study. Using grounded theory methodology, scholarly literature on e-Government in Africa has been analyzed to model various barriers. The research

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Towards an integrated model for citizen adoption of E-government services in developing countries: A Saudi Arabia case study

open access: yes, 2012
This paper considers the challenges that face the widespread adoption of E-government in developing countries, using Saudi Arabian our case study. E-government can be defined based on an existing set of requirements.

E-Government Evaluation: Reflections on two Organisational studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Senior executives in public sector organisations have been charged with delivering an e-Government agenda. A key emerging area of research is that of the evaluation of e-Government, given that economic factors have traditionally dominated any traditional

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Freedom or Safety, the Dilemma of Technology-Based Surveillance Systems in the Context of E-Government

open access: yesFrench Journal for Media Research, 2016
Cet article se propose de répondre aux questions suivantes : Les technologies de l'information renforcent-elles la position des citoyens face à l'État? La société obtient-elle une gouvernance plus démocratique en raison des applications du e-gouvernement?

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Situating the transient user: overcoming challenges in the design of e-government systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
e-Government systems present new challenges for user involvement in the design process. Existing user-centred and participatory design methodologies were mainly developed for situations where a user is in the workplace.
