Targeting the GPX4–FUNDC1 Interaction with Magnesium Lithospermate B Attenuates Sepsis‐Associated Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The diagram depicts the endothelial‐protective mechanism of magnesium lithospermate B (MLB) in sepsis‐associated lung injury. MLB binds GPX4 at Gly79, disrupts its interaction with FUNDC1, prevents mitophagy‐mediated GPX4 degradation, restores mitophagic flux, reduces ROS, and limits ferroptosis.

The role of the host—Neutrophil biology

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) are myeloid cells packed with lysosomal granules (hence also called granulocytes) that contain a formidable antimicrobial arsenal. They are terminally differentiated cells that play a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, as well as in the resolution of inflammation and wound ...

SDA, a DNA aptamer inhibiting E- and P-selectin mediated adhesion of cancer and leukemia cells, the first and pivotal step in transendothelial migration during metastasis formation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Endothelial (E-) and platelet (P-) selectin mediated adhesion of tumor cells to vascular endothelium is a pivotal step of hematogenous metastasis formation.

Serum IL-23, E-selectin and sICAM levels in non-small cell lung cancer patients before and after radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2020
Objective The functions of E-selectin, interleukin (IL)-23, and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule (sICAM) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients before and after radiotherapy (RT) are poorly understood.

Oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of systemic scleroderma: An overview [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare disorder of the connective tissue characterized by fibrosis of the skin, skeletal muscles and visceral organs. Additional manifestations include activation of the immune system and vascular injury. SSc causes disability

Histone deacetylase 2-mediated deacetylation of the Ribonuclease 1 promoter in inflamed human endothelial cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Endothelial cells (ECs) function as protective barrier to separate the blood from the surrounding tissue by conducting crucial roles in regulation and maintenance of vascular homeostasis, such as control of vessel permeability or coagulation.

Biomimetic Membrane Interface Technologies for Detection and Isolation of CTCs and EVs: Advances and Opportunities in Liquid Biopsy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biomimetic membrane interface engineering constructs functionalized detection platforms by integrating natural cell membranes, synthetic lipids, or hybrid membranes. This strategy effectively reduces background interference and enables efficient target capture and analysis, showing broad applications in circulating tumor cell separation, extracellular ...

Crucial role of SLP-76 and ADAP for neutrophil recruitment in mouse kidney ischemia-reperfusion injury. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Neutrophils trigger inflammation-induced acute kidney injury (AKI), a frequent and potentially lethal occurrence in humans. Molecular mechanisms underlying neutrophil recruitment to sites of inflammation have proved elusive. In this study, we demonstrate

Biomarkers of coronary endothelial health: correlation with invasive measures of collateral function, flow and resistance in chronically occluded coronary arteries and the effect of recanalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objectives: In the presence of a chronically occluded coronary artery, the collateral circulation matures by a process of arteriogenesis; however, there is considerable variation between individuals in the functional capacity of that collateral network ...
