New Zealand Geological Timescale 2025

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
New Zealand Geological Timescale 2025 (NZGT 2025) is the first comprehensive update and revision of the New Zealand Geological Timescale in a decade. The criteria used to establish age ranges of New Zealand Stages within the NZGT have been reviewed, calibrated, and revised where required against the 2023/04 International Chronostratigraphic Chart and ...

Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycans in CNS Development and Pathophysiology

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 104, Issue 3, March 2026.
Chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPGs) are critical components of the extracellular matrix in the central nervous system (CNS). In the developing CNS, CSPGs regulate neural precursor cells, neuronal migration, axon guidance, synapse organization, and peri‐neuronal net assembly.

The NLRP3 Inflammasome: Mechanisms of Activation, Regulation, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Diverse diseases converge on NLRP3. We depict a discovery‐to‐clinic track: high‐throughput/phenotypic screens, structure‐guided design, and modality innovation (allosteric inhibitors, interface blockers, degraders) deliver third‐generation, disease‐tailored NLRP3 control.

Functional Training Mitigates Reduced Circulating Indole‐3‐Lactate Levels in Persons With Relapsing–Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Indoles are tryptophan (Trp)‐derived metabolites that are produced by the gut microbiota and may influence the gut‐microbiota‐brain axis in multiple sclerosis (MS). Indole‐3‐lactate (ILA) is reduced in persons with MS and improves MS clinical scores in animal models via its anti‐inflammatory remyelinating properties.

3D imaging of neuronal inclusions and protein aggregates in human neurodegeneration by multiscale x‐ray phase‐contrast tomography

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 2, March 2026.
x‐ray phase‐contrast tomography enabled three‐dimensional, label‐free visualization and quantification of protein aggregates in neurodegenerative diseases with isotropic submicrometer resolution. The study revealed distinct electron density patterns in Lewy bodies, Hirano bodies, granulovacuolar degeneration, and amyloid plaques, highlighting their ...

The impact of Foxp3+ regulatory T‐cells on CD8+ T‐cell dysfunction in tumour microenvironments and responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 6, Page 1250-1270, March 2026.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been a breakthrough in cancer therapy, inducing durable remissions in responding patients. However, they are associated with variable outcomes, spanning from disease hyperprogression to complete responses with the onset of immune‐related adverse events.
