Lymphoid hyperplasia and lymphoma in transgenic mice expressing the small non-coding RNA, EBER1 of Epstein-Barr virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background. Non-coding RNAs have critical functions in diverse biological processes, particularly in gene regulation. Viruses, like their host cells, employ such functional RNAs and the human cancer associated Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is no exception ...

EBV in Hodgkin Lymphoma

open access: yesMediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, 2009
Up to 40% of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) cases are associated with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Clonal viral genomes can be found in the HL tumor cells, the Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg cells (HRS). The latent infection results in expression of the viral oncogenes LMP1 and LMP2A which contribute to generate the particular phenotype of the HRS cells.

EBV-driven 1C pathway drives nucleotide and glutathione synthesis.

open access: yes, 2022
EBNA2 and MYC induce the 1C, glycolysis, and de novo serine synthesis pathways in B cells. They also up-regulate plasma membrane abundance of the GLUT1 and ASCT1/2 transporters to increase glucose and serine import, respectively. Serine pools are further
