Toward precision nutrition: A cross‐sectional study on the genetic risks of nutrients deficiencies and eating behaviors among the Orang Asli and Malays

open access: yesPrecision Medical Sciences, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 146-154, December 2022., 2022
Toward precision nutrition: Genetic risks of nutrients deficiencies and eating behaviors among the Orang Asli and Malays. Abstract This cross‐sectional study aimed to profile 15 genetic markers associated with the risks of nutrient deficiencies and eating disinhibition behaviors that could lead to obesity among the Orang Asli (OA) and the Malays.

Effect of omega‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acid supplementation on oxidative stress parameters and sex hormone levels of modern genotype sows

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 191-202, January 2023., 2023
In this study, we supplemented the diet of breeding sows either with omega‐6 (control) or omega‐3 (experimental) polyunsaturated fatty acids and examined their effects on the antioxidant system and hormone levels of the animals. In the blood levels of molecules indicating oxidative stress we experienced slight changes, but the feeding of omega‐3 fatty ...

Impact of dietary supplementation of unsaturated and saturated fatty acids on bone strength, fatty acids profile of thigh muscle and immune responses in broiler chickens under heat stress

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 252-262, January 2023., 2023
Results suggest that there is not beneficial effect of broiler performance due to adding different source of fat in broiler chicken diet under hot condition. Furthermore, the unsaturated fatty acids could improve profile of fatty acids in thigh and enhance immune responses in broiler chickens.

Longitudinal profiles of plasma eicosanoids during pregnancy and size for gestational age at delivery: A nested case-control study.

open access: yesPLoS Medicine, 2020
BACKGROUND:Inflammation during pregnancy is hypothesized to influence fetal growth. Eicosanoids, an important class of lipid mediators derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids, can act as both direct influences and biomarkers of inflammation through a ...

Eicosanoids and cancer

open access: yesClinics, 2018
Eicosanoids are 20-carbon bioactive lipids derived from the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which can modulate various biological processes including cell proliferation, adhesion and migration, angiogenesis, vascular permeability and ...

Development of SFC-MS Method for Quantification of Eicosanoids Biosynthesized in Primary Human Blood Cells

open access: yesMetabolites, 2022
Eicosanoids are lipid mediators generated from arachidonic acid with pro- and anti-inflammatory properties. Despite these lipid mediators being known for decades, quantitative determination in biological samples is still challenging due to low abundance,

Plantar osteochondral fragments in young Standardbreds are associated with minimal joint inflammation at the time of surgical removal

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 55, Issue 1, Page 33-41, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Plantar osteochondral fragments (POF) are common but their effect on joint health of young Standardbreds in race training is largely unknown. Objectives Evaluate the inflammatory effects of POF in metatarsophalangeal joints of young Standardbreds as a step towards developing evidence‐based recommendations for surgical removal. Study

Study of the role of cytosolic phospholipase A2 alpha in eicosanoid generation and thymocyte maturation in the thymus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
The thymus is a primary lymphoid organ, home of maturation and selection of thymocytes for generation of functional T-cells. Multiple factors are involved throughout the different stages of the maturation process to tightly regulate T-cell production ...

The effects of FTO gene rs9939609 polymorphism on the association between breast cancer and dietary intake

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 23, Page 5794-5806, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Breast cancer (BC) is the leading cause of cancer‐related deaths in females worldwide and is related to genetic and environmental factors. Dietary components may strongly influence the risk of BC. A possible association was also reported between the fat mass and obesity‐associated (FTO) single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and BC. This study
