The Indirect Effect of Radiation on Embryonic Mortality
International Journal of Radiation Biology and Related Studies in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine, 1971SummarySurvival of rat embryos in the right uterine horn irradiated (200 to 400 R) on days 1½ or 4½ of pregnancy is significantly increased by concomitant shielding of the left lower-body quadrant. The data are interpreted as evidence that radiation-induced maternal dysfunction is a significant contributing factor to embryonic mortality observed in ...

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 1981
Contents A review is presented concerning various factors connected with embryonic mortality in cattle. New aspects are considered, including findings of the author's group. Most exact results entail findings at slaughter, complemented by hormonal and biochemical evaluations.

Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 1930
SummaryIn an examination of 11,797 eggs which had failed to hatch, 433 specimens exhibiting teratological abnormalities were obtained. The various types of monsters observed are briefly described and the frequency of each given. The most common types were characterised by various degrees of abnormality either in the brain, cranium, or eyes, or in two of ...

Embryonic Mortality induced Experimentally in the Rabbit
Nature, 1960SYSTEMIC treatment of the pregnant doe with suitable preparations, for example stilbœstrol, results in the destruction of the entire litter1. However a surgical approach is required in order to destroy selected embryos. Huggett and Pritchard2 induced prenatal mortality in rats by crushing the fœtuses with toothed forceps through the intact uterine wall

Pregnancy Diagnosis and Embryonic Mortality in the Cow
1986A total of 3869 cows divided in five groups underwent three different methods of pregnancy diagnosis. Pregnancy was diagnosed in the first three groups by means of the progesterone milk test and in the other two groups by ultrasound and manual methods respectively.

XXIII.—Infertility and Embryonic Mortality in the Domestic Fowl
Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Section B. Biology, 1946During the winter of 1937–38 it became necessary to obtain the maximum number of offspring from a certain pen mating for the purposes of an experiment unconnected with the present report. Accordingly all suitable eggs were incubated, and since chicks were required all the year round the data which accumulated related to periods extending beyond the ...

Embryonic Mortality in Steroid Immunized Sheep
1986One hundred and seventy six mature Merino ewes were used in an experiment to study the effects of immunization against androstenedione on fertilization rates and early embryonic mortality. Animals were immunized such that the interval from booster injection to mating was controlled to give either high or low antibody titre levels.

Embryonic mortality in buffalo cows
2009Buffalo species show a tendency to a seasonal reproductive activity and it can be considered a “short day” species. Oestrus cycles occur throughout the year but the frequency of anoestrus and ovarian inactivity is higher and fertility is lower when daylight hours increase.

The Effect of Placental Fusion on Embryonic Mortality in the Pig
Research in Veterinary Science, 1974Summary Twenty-three examples of monochorionic pairing of embryos were found duringdissection of the uteri of 40 pregnant sows: 61% of the paired embryos were already dead at thetime the sow ivas slaughtered. It is concluded that, in the sample examined, approaching 2.9% ojthe ova ovulated perished for reasons associated with monochorionic pair ...
