Studies on the embryotoxicity and mutagenicity of mycotoxins
Mycotoxin Research, 1986Embryotoxicity: Aflatoxin B1(AFB1), G1 (AFG1), and Patulin (PA) were investigated in NMRI mice for embryotoxic and teratogenic activity. These three mycotoxins were injected intraperitoneally or given orally on day 12 and 13 of pregnancy. AFB1 (15, 45, and 90 mg/kg ip or 45 mg/kg po) produced a moderate retardation in the fetal development and a dose ...

Embryotoxicity and teratogenicity of Cis-diamminedichloroplatinum
Experientia, 1979Cis-diamminedichloroplatinum has lethal, toxic and teratogenic effects on presomitic mouse embryos in doses that are not toxic to adult animals.

Studies of mitochondria in oxidative embryotoxicity
Teratology, 1995AbstractWhile the limb bud and brain of the rat develop abnormally in response to transient uteroplacental hypoperfusion during late gestation, the heart appears to be protected. These malformations have been associated with the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Studies were designed to examine superoxide generation by mitochondrial electron

The Embryotoxic and Immunodepressive Effects of Gossypol
The American Journal of Chinese Medicine, 1986The effects of gossypol acetic on pregnancy, embryofoetal development and on some selected parameters of immunological response in mice were studied. Daily intragastric administration of gossypol (50 or 75 mg/kg/day) during day 1-15 of gestation in mice produced a dose-dependent embroyocidal effect (37.8% and 94.5% respectively) of non-viable foetuses.

Embryotoxicity of chemical contaminants of foods
Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1971Abstract A brief review of a variety of contaminants that may occur in foodstuffs indicates that in the majority of cases embryotoxicity or teratogenicity are toxic hazards unlikely to arise in practice as a result of such contamination. The major possible exception is mercury especially methylmercury, on which further data are being obtained ...

In vitro embryotoxicity and teratogenicity studies
Toxicology in Vitro, 1990During the past decade many publications have appeared describing test methods for in vitro toxicological research and emphasizing their desirability, appropriations and necessity. One reason for this might be the pressure imposed on regulatory, industrial and academic communities by society to reduce the number of animals used in research and testing ...

The embryotoxic and osteolathyrogenic effects of semicarbazide
Toxicology, 1985The osteolathyrogenic agent semicarbazide was assayed for its toxicity and teratogenicity using early embryos of the frog Xenopus laevis. The 96-h LC50 is 1504.20 mg/l while the 96-h EC50 is 76.28 mg/l. Embryo length is altered prior to the onset of other effects indicated by a reduction in stage of development.

Embryotoxicity is the TCDD-induced embryotoxicity in rats due to maternal toxicity?
Chemosphere, 1989Abstract The morphogenetic differentiation of early postimplantation rat embryos (2 to 4 somite pairs) in culture was studied in the presence of 40 ng TCDD/ml (ppb) in the culture medium (bovine serum). The results suggest that the embryotoxic effects induced in rats in vivo are caused by an indirect action (presumably due to maternal toxicity).

Embryotoxic/teratogenic potential of halothane
International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 1990The embryotoxic/teratogenic potential of halothane was evaluated on the basis of available data obtained in an extensive literature search. It was found that halothane induced ultrastructural visible changes in the offspring of rats exposed to concentrations of 10 ppm during gestation. These consisted of degenerative changes in the cerebral cortex and,

Embryotoxicity and Teratogenicity Study with Erythritol in Rats
Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, 1996The embryotoxicity/teratogenicity of erythritol, a low-calorie polyol sugar substitute, was examined in Wistar Crl:(WI) WU BR rats. Erythritol was fed at dietary concentrations of 0, 2.5, 5, and 10% to groups of 32 female rats from Day 0 to 21 of gestation. The treatment was generally well tolerated and no mortality occurred in any group.
