An enantioselective approach to (+)-laurencin
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2008A convergent enantioselective route to an advanced intermediate for the synthesis of the marine natural product (+)-laurencin has been developed. The methodology employs ring-opening of an ephedrine-based spiro-epoxide with a chiral secondary alcohol, hemiacetal allylation and ring closing metathesis as the key steps for elaboration of the ...

Angewandte Chemie (International ed. in English)
Even with only a catalytic amount of chiral bis(dihydrooxazole) 1 as external ligand, the rearrangement of benzyl ethers to alcohols [Eq. (1)] proceeds with high enantioselectivity (over 60 % ee). This reaction represents the first example of an enantioselective [1,2] Wittig rearrangement.

An enantioselective assay for (±)-modafinil
Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2001Enantiomers of modafinil, (diphenylmethyl)sulphinyl-2-acetamide, were separated by an amylose tris[(S)-1-phenylethylcarbamate] chiral stationary phase, using acetonitrile: water (25:75 v/v) as mobile phase, with excellent selectivity (alpha=1.4) and resolution factors (R(s)=1.5).

Enantioselective Biosynthesis of (+)- and (−)-Auranthines
Journal of the American Chemical SocietyIn nature, organisms produce various bioactive natural products (NPs). Most NPs target naturally occurring macromolecules, such as proteins and nucleotides. Thus, NPs are produced in a stereocontrolled manner except for the cases where nonenzymatic reactions are involved in the biosynthesis. This is why stereoisomers, especially enantiomers, are rarely
