Synthetic Communications, 1998Abstract The four stereomer 1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy)-phenyl-1,2,3-propanetriols were obtained in about 30% yields starting from ferulic acid by a synthesis based on osmium catalyzed asymmetric dihydroxylation.

Enantioselective metabolism of cumene
Xenobiotica, 19921. The enantioselective metabolism of cumene (isopropylbenzene) was studied in intact rabbits. 2. Of the total 2-phenyl-1-propanol formed metabolically, 90.3% was shown by h.p.l.c. to be (R)-(+)-2-phenyl-1-propanol. The corresponding values for (S)-(+)-2-phenylpropanoic acid and (R)-(-)-2-hydroxy-2-phenylpropanoic acid were 99.0 and 81.0%, respectively.

Enantioselective synthesis of levomilnacipran
Chemical Communications, 2012A novel approach for the asymmetric synthesis of the active (1S,2R)-enantiomer of the antidepressant milnacipran is reported. The two stereogenic centers borne by the cyclopropane ring were sequentially installed starting from phenylacetic acid.
