Enantioselective Synthesis of Euonyminol

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2021
We describe an enantioselective total synthesis of the nonahydroxylated sesquiterpenoid euonyminol, the dihydro-β-agarofuran nucleus of the macrocyclic terpenoid alkaloids known as the cathedulins. Key features of the synthetic sequence include a highly diastereoselective intramolecular alkene oxyalkylation to establish the C10 quaternary center, an ...

Enantioselective Organocatalysis

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2001
The last few years have witnessed a spectacular advancement in new catalytic methods based on metal-free organic molecules. In many cases, these small compounds give rise to extremely high enantioselectivities. Preparative advantages are notable: usually the reactions can be performed under an aerobic atmosphere with wet solvents.

Enantioselective organocatalysis

Drug Discovery Today, 2007
Enantioselective organocatalysis has emerged as a powerful synthetic paradigm that is complementary to metal-catalysed transformations and has accelerated the development of new methods to make diverse chiral molecules. The operational simplicity, ready availability of catalysts and low toxicity associated with organocatalysis makes it an attractive ...

Enantioselective Desymmetrization of Diesters

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
The desymmetrization of prochiral diesters with a chiral phosphoric acid catalyst to produce highly enantioenriched lactones in excellent yield is reported. The process is easily scaled and accommodates a variety of substitution patterns, many of which result in the generation of an enantioenriched all-carbon quaternary center.
