Enantioselective Michael Addition of Cyclic β-Diones to α,β-Unsaturated Enones Catalyzed by Quinine-Based Organocatalysts

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
An enantioselective (52–98% ee) Michael addition between cyclic β-diones and α,β-unsaturated enones was established in the presence of quinine-based primary amine or squaramide.

Atroposelective Construction of Axially Chiral Tetraarylethenes Via NHC‐Catalyzed Desymmetrization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the first NHC‐catalyzed atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral TAEs via oxidative desymmetrization of prochiral TAE dialdehydes. This catalytic strategy operates under mild conditions and accommodates a broad range of phenolic and nitrogen nucleophiles, delivering diverse axially chiral TAEs in good yields and up to 99% ee.

Recent Developments in the Catalytic Enantioselective Sakurai Reaction

open access: yesReactions
The Sakurai reaction constitutes a valuable tool for carbon–carbon bond formation. The use of nontoxic allylic reagents as well as the atom economy of the global process has prompted the development of enantioselective (aza)-variants based on the use of ...

Radical Fluoroalkylation Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recent protocols and reactions for catalytic radical perfluoroalkylations will be described. The production of perfluoroalkyl radicals (RF = CnF2n+1, n ≥ 2), which effect both addition and substitution reactions on organic substrates, can be realized ...

Enantioselective Synthesis of (−)-Basiliskamide A [PDF]

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2012
Basiliskamide A is an antifungal polyketide natural product isolated by Andersen and co-workers from a Bacillus laterosporus isolate, PNG-276. A nine-step enantioselective synthesis of (-)-basiliskamide A is reported, starting from commercially available β-hydroxy ester 7.

Practical Enantioselective Reduction of Ketones Using Oxazaborolidine Catalysts Generated In Situ from Chiral Lactam Alcohols

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Oxazaborolidine catalyst (CBS catalyst) has been extensively used for catalytic borane reduction with a predictable absolute stereochemistry and high enantioselectivity.

The supramolecular attitude of metal-salophen and metal-salen complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this review we cover some aspects of metal-salophen and metal-salen complex chemistry related to their supramolecular attitude. We examined under the lens of the non-covalent interactions their potential to behave as building blocks for auto-assembled

Directed enzyme evolution: climbing fitness peaks one amino acid at a time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Directed evolution can generate a remarkable range of new enzyme properties. Alternate substrate specificities and reaction selectivities are readily accessible in enzymes from families that are naturally functionally diverse.

Asymmetric One‐Pot Total Synthesis of Tenuipesone A/B Through a Tunable Multienzyme Cascade

open access: yesChemistryEurope
While biocatalysis has rapidly become a versatile tool in the synthetic chemist's toolbox, one of its main benefits, the broad cross‐compatibility of enzymes, which could lead to cell biochemistry‐like artificial metabolisms, is still underutilized in ...
